Today was a weird day.

When I got to work, I was making myself some tea and also getting some water for my water bottle. One of my co-workers came over and asked if I’d heard about our receptionist. Now, I knew our receptionist had been very sick. This morning, I found out she’d passed away.

I haven’t worked at Zaner-Bloser long, but Ann was always a sweetheart. I’m in denial, because I can’t believe I won’t hear her say “good-niiggght” to me as I’m leaving for the day, anymore. I mean, it just doesn’t seem real. 🙁 I’m still going to be checking her desk, wondering when she’s going to get better and come back to work.

After work, I went to the library and ran into one of my neighbors there. The nice one. He sits out back and he reads and smokes his cigar. We stood in the parking lot and talked for two hours. He is older, but funny as hell. He’s one of those naughty old men. 🙂

Although, he did give me three pounds of hamburger because he said he doesn’t want to cook it. So now I have a HUGE three-pound roll of hamburger meat that I will separate and use for spaghetti and chili and other assorted yummies.

I went to two costume parties this weekend. Had a blast-a-rooni. Friday night’s was at a clubhouse, and with a few friends I used to go to church with. Aidan was freaked out by the creepy decorations. But he looked very cute:

Aidan was so cute! And this little girl came to the party and I sat there and watched him try to impress her and get all flirty and stuff. It almost make me cry, because it was like I was getting a sneak peek at teenager Aidan. Eeek!

Saturday night, Aidan and I hit my friend Heather’s housewarming/Halloween party. It was the best party ever. EVER. Seriously. There was so much food (she had me take some home, and I have enough for lunches all week, and a few dinners, too), and there was candy and all sorts of treats and toys and favors and fun fun fun. Again, best party EVER.

Laura is on maternity leave from ZB at the moment. If she didn’t go into labor on her own, they were going to induce her at 8pm today. OMG.
I was so happy to see her.
The story is so funny. She and my mom live right around the corner from each other. Her mom is my mom’s pharmacist. But Laura and I just met this year.

Again, Heather’s party was amazing. Her house is gorgeous, and I have NEVER seen so much food at a party before. Seriously. It was incredible. And Aidan had a BLAST, running around and playing and melting everyone’s heart. People kept coming up to me with tons of compliments about him. He’s adorable, he’s a sweetheart, he is well-behaved, he has great manners. Yay! He’s just such a great kid. ♥

On top of that, Heather’s house has this amazing energy about it. I can’t describe it, but I felt so relaxed there, and happy. It’s carrying over, too. My back didn’t ache at all when I was there, nor did it ache yesterday and today. I’ve been smiling a lot since hanging out over there.

My friend Dave works as a reporter out in Los Angeles. He was covering the fires. He was pretty much right there. Check out this picture:

Isn’t that crazy? Of course, this guy’s been blown around in hurricanes, played in the no-gravity simulator in a plane, all sorts of stuff. He loves doing this kind of work.

The other night, I was giving Aidan a bath. He asked me to scratch his back. I did, and cracked up laughing as he went “OH YEAH OH YEAH” in this funny gruffy voice. That boy is hilarious. And his obsession with Tom and Jerry is the best thing ever. He LOVES the Zoot Suit episode. And we love to quote a part from a SpongeBob episode. The cartoon goes like this:

Sandy: I love karate!
SpongeBob: I love karaTAY!
Mr. Krabs: I love moneyAY!
Squidward: I hate all of you.

Yeah, Aidan and I quote that over and over and over. He’s so getting another SpongeBob DVD for Christmas, so I can watch it with him. 🙂 That cartoon is growing on me.

It’s finally starting to get really cold in my apartment. I’m in running pants, a sweatshirt, and fuzzy socks and I am totally shivering. It’s about 65º F in here now. The electric blanket will feel nice tonight. I’m trying to hold off as long as I can in regards to turning on the furnace.

How early do you guys (who this applies to) turn on your furnace?

SURPRISE!

So, I tried to plan a suprise birthday party for Chris, whose birthday is Monday, June 27th. I sent out an email on Monday and let people know and asked them to stop by, but letting me know if they couldn’t come. I was quite busy for the next couple of days, so I didn’t get much done. Thursday night, I went out and bought stuff, then hid it strategically around the house. Heehee. He had no idea, except for me asking him to take off work an hour early. Mmm yeah, about that.

So I found out he’d be home around 730ish. I figured I’d have time to take care of things. OH NO. This fool left work at 6pm and got home BEFORE any of the guests got there. I was frosting the cupcakes. I’d been rushing around all evening trying to clean the house (luckily, there wasn’t a whole lot to do, but enough!), and Aidan wanted lots of attention for some reason. I got a little bit stressed out. But I calmed down when Chris got home. He started getting suspicious because of the cupcakes and the extra ice cream in the freezer. Then Aidan found his birthday presents and started to open them. Bob and David showed up and Chris was confused. Then he started to get it.

I forgot to take pictures, but it was fun seeing Bob and David, Lauren and her daughter, Lauren’s sister Holly, Rob (yay!), Craig, Chad and Christy, Katie, and Corey. 🙂 I also go to see David, Craig, Lauren and baby Ellie, and Bob at Cici’s pizza Thursday night. I’d forgotten my camera, too bad I didn’t get a picture of Bob’s MOUND OF PIZZA.

We had spaghetti, ice cream, cupcakes, then Chris watched his presents: Alice in Wonderland and Golden Girls Season Two on DVD. Bwah.

So he was still surprised, but it wasn’t as dramatic as I’d hoped. That’s okay, though. He was happy anyway and he likes his presents. 😀

Dude, I just took another Lortab and I’m finally feeling good. Mmmmmm. Those pills make having cramps worth it.

Hmm. Got some work done on the Disney album. Still waiting on some pictures from Snapfish before I finish up. I’ll have pictures to add to my other albums too. So those sneak previews were not completely finished.

I got to talk to Rob for a long time which was much needed. I enjoy having those talks with him. I hadn’t seen a lot of him lately, so it was wonderful to spend so much time with him. YAY for Rob. 🙂

You Just Think All Black Cats Look Alike! (Pictures)

What started out as kind of a stressful day ended up being pretty okay. 🙂

Firstly, my desktop computer was acting up which freaked me the heck out. I knew I had my laptop, but I wanted my desktop to be functional as well. I finally did a cold reboot and ran virus scan and ad-aware and it’s doing fine. Found one infected file and 60 new pieces of spyware. That’s amazing considering I don’t use that computer nearly as often as this one!

I’m glad Kelle Belle (itskels) let me rant and rave to her on AIM while I was troubleshooting. 😀 She’s great. And funny, too. Whee.

So, that disaster resolved. I went to work on the finances. Yeah, thinking of that makes my stomach hurt. But there is hope. More on that later.

I got to talk to Aimzy (liesandpromises) online even though it was all my griping. She’s soooo totally amazing and cool, though. Why must she live all the way in California?

Went to my sister-in-law’s baby shower. Everyone is so excited because Kelly is carrying the first Davis girl to be spawned in years and years. Look how pretty she looks:

It was a nice party. I have so much fun with her. 🙂 I’ve always thought of her as a sister, actually. 🙂 I remember crying at her wedding and going “Hi, Sis.” She said “STOP CRYING OR YOU’LL MAKE ME CRY TOO!” Gotta love that.

Afterwards, we came back home. I read a bit, then chatted online with Rob. He made plans to join me at the party I was invited to for tonight. That made me happy. Then the phone rang. It was a Christian debt counselor. How ironic that I’d been freaking out over money/finances earlier that afternoon, and this lady calls? I knew we’d been referred to her, but I was beginning to think we’d never hear from her. Maybe God is listening and actually talking to me now. So we made an appointment to see her next Saturday afternoon (must remember to write it down in my planner). After I got off the phone with her, I worked on the special surprise for that certain someone. A bit after 8, I headed over to Chad and Christy’s to PARTAY to celebrate the 9 million June birthdays in our large circle of friends/fellow church-goers/family members/more! (Kim, Tina, Tyler – he wasn’t there but he does have a June birthday too-, Abbie, Nicki, Amy, Robbie, Chris, and lots more!) Here are a few pictures:

Hmm, let’s see. One guy got his head shaved, Aidan was the LIFE of the party times nine, cartwheels were being done on the grass, and LOTS of picture taking. They had two of the BIGGEST pizzas I’d ever seen!!! $20 each, and they were…omg, I should have taken a picture of the boxes. Unreal. But so yummy. Lots of other yummy stuff to eat too. And of course, the people helped make it great. It was so good to see my friends again (it had been awhile, what with me missing/skipping church and The Grove), especially Abbie and Robbie and so on. 🙂

I’m reading a book called Pop Princess by Rachel Cohn. Very addicting and edgy. I like it. I’d been wanting to read it for a while and it just happened to be in the library Friday when I was browsing. I was pretty stoked to see it on the shelf–I grabbed it right away.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love going to the library? Or bookstores? Being surrounded by books is almost like magic for me.

Speaking of magic… DISNEY! My other favorite subject. I downloaded some Monorail sound clips. PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE DOORS! Yes, it excites me. Especially when I stop media player right after the “Please” to mimic the ones we rode that were malfunctioning. (The announcements, not the actual monorail). Ah, such fond memories.

Got to hang with Jennifer on Friday night. It had been a while since I’d seen her. SHE IS SO FUNNY. I love being with her. She brings out this goofy side of me and she has such a great laugh. I feel completely relaxed and at ease around her. That doesn’t happen with me and too many people. She’s a special one. I heart Jennifer.

I got glomped by dwagonfry!!! 😀 YAY! That made my weekend! Wheeee!

I think I’m going to read now. I want to lose myself in this book; it’s amazing. Plus, we’re going to Kings Island. I hope it’s not too crowded or more importantly, cold. It should be fun to take Aidan. He’s older now and can choose rides. Too bad Tina and Craig won’t be joining us this year–they were fun last year. Tina is great to take to amusement parks because she gets so much joy out of the smallest things. Well, there is always the fair. I’m going at least three times, as I do each year. (Provided I have money!)

Once with Kelle Belle (itskels), once with Chris and Aidan and hopefully Tina and Craig too, and once with Becky and whomever else we invite. I’ll try to spread my food consumption out over the three times. For sure I’m having:

– deep fried Twinkie w/powedered sugar and strawberry topping
– corn dog
– french fries
– philly cheese steak sammich
– roasted corn
– pizza

And I want to ride:

– Wave Swinger
– Scrambler
– Tilt-A-Whirl

Okay, that’s months away, so I will not think about it and get myself all excited yet. 😀 It’s just that I LOVE the Ohio State Fair! And the 2005 concert lineup is awesome this year!!! Ooh August 3rd, August 3rd…. 😀

WELCOME HOME, TAMI!!!11oneone

Last night, I threw a Welcome Home Party for the awesome, amazing, curly-haired Tami! I’m so glad she’s back. I’ve missed her. I remember when she left at the end of May. August seemed ages away. And now it’s here and she’s here and it’s so good to have her around again. She bought us a canister of green tea leaves, and a cute little outfit for Aidan.

A bunch of my favorite people showed up for the party: Aimee, Christy, Tina, Rob, Monica, Kelly P, Tyler, Craig, and Abe. I think that’s everyone. Naturally, it was good times. There was karaoke, guitar playing, snacking, talking, lots of laughing, and just plain acting stupid. We had a wonderful time. I love, love, LOVE having my friends over to my place.

Some of the more memorable moments & quotes of the evening were:

Kelly: …and then I thought “Wow, he’s cute.” And he thought “Wow, she thinks I’m cute.”
Kelly telling me about how she and Tyler discovered they liked each other.

Chris: …that’s “f” as in Frank, “f” as in Frank, “f” as in Frank.
Chris pranking Hooked on Phonics and telling them his name was Webster, but spelled webfffsteeeeeer-ih and excercising Chad’s “3 Fs Rule” which states that 3 Fs together in a word means the “F” sound is silent.

Rob: No one can out-gay me.
I wasn’t there for that one, I just heard about it.

Everyone: Where’s Tami? Isn’t she the guest of honor?
Tami showed up 90 minutes later than she was supposed to!

Kelly: Am I the prettiest girl in the world?
Tyler: [Long silence. Stares at Kelly with an “are you serious” expression on his face.]

Actually, those two are really cute together. At one point, he was sitting on her lap and they were playing Zelda on the SNES, and SHARING THE CONTROLLER. One, single controller. She worked the keypad, he worked the A,B, X & Y buttons. Awww. Wait, I mean, EWW, COOTIES!!!!!!

Hmm. Tyler kicked my a$$ over and over while playing Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct. That was kind of embarrassing. But I beat Kelly in Karaoke Revolution. Although she says wait ’til next time. You are so on, Kelly! Kidding. She’s a way better singer than I am, so I know she’ll kick my butt. I don’t care though, cause it’ll be fun anyway. Almost nothing can top Tyler singing all the teen-angst Avril-type songs in a high pitched girly voice. It was sweet. Chris did his Cher impression, and Craig turned all gangsta on us. It was awesome. Abe is out of control. That’s the only way to describe him. 😉

I hadn’t seen Rob and Monica in ages, so it was great to hang out with them again. I can’t wait to post my pics from last night. Especially the ones of Kelly and her cute new haircut, and the one of Abe and his “hot body.” 🙂 Word.
