Sunday Evening

I just got out of the shower and now I am nice and clean. I must do my hair sometime this week, but to tide me over, I washed it tonight. It smells v. yummy.

You know how those search engine sites let you personalize a homepage? I use personalized Google homepage. They introduced themes a few weeks ago, and I picked the “Teahouse” theme. There’s a little animal—I’m not sure what he is, but he’s so cute. The theme is dynamic, so it changes with the time of the day. He picks fruit in the morning, he has a picnic during lunchtime, and he sleeps in a little sleeping bag at night. Right now, he’s feeding the ducks. He is so cute. I smile everytime I see him.

Here’s a screen shot:

Friday, tamirabeth and I had dinner at b-dubs. She treated me, which was so awesome of her. I ordered 12 wings. I usually order six. But this time I ordered 12 because I hadn’t eaten much all day and I was v. hungry. So, I ate all 12 wings, a regular-sized order of buffalo chips, and a few pieces of celery dipped in ranch dressing. Then I came home and ate a cookie, and a few pieces of candy while Tami and I watched Boondock Saints (woo, another convert!) and Cars. Part way through Cars, I started feeling like something was NOT RIGHT. I figured I’d just eaten too much, but my back was hurting really badly. After she left, I got sick. 🙁 After it was over, I fell into a fitful sleep, upside down on the bed. I am hoping it wasn’t the chicken. I think it was probably the ranch dressing, or maybe I really did eat way too much. My stomach felt like it wanted to explode! So, I know, from now on. Six wings it is. I slept until 2pm on Saturday, but then I got up and worked my bootay off on unpacking and such. Then I watched FOUR episodes of The O.C. on DVD.

Today I watched Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle for the first time ever. I was all excited when I figured out one of the obscure references in the movie (clues) before the angels did. And Demi Moore is HOT. WOW. Go Ashton!!! 🙂

See if you can find the grammatical errors in the headline I’ve circled in the following graphic:

I can’t stop copyediting. Speaking of that, and work, I am now enrolled in a correspondence handwriting course. I did my first two lessons on Friday. My wrist was about to kill me. So were my fingers. I’m trying to retrain my muscles, but we’ll see if it works or not. I’m interested to see what my grade is. Believe it or not, manuscript is harder than cursive. A LOT harder.

I started reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I doubt I finish it. I’ve been skipping around, but some of the things I’ve read I don’t think are very nice. I also wasn’t able to finish An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. There were too many footnotes. They were distracting me. I did review a couple more books at Ronni’s Reviews if you want to hop over and take a look. Maybe even comment. Hint hint.

This post has no point. Okay then. See ya.

What’s Goin’ On…

April 15th. A nice, round date.

So, instead of a guilt-free weekend of reading and bumming around, I spent it unpacking and arranging furniture, as most of the stuff of mine from Bauer Street arrived Thursday evening. I can’t believe how much stuff I have. So I started decluttering. I have a huge pile of stuff waiting for the dumpster, a lot of stuff to donate to Goodwill, and well, my place is very cosy now. I’m still not done, but I’ll post pictures when I DO get done, hopefully before summer hits. 🙂

I’d be working now, except I think I sprained my wrist, so I don’t have a lot of fun when lifting things right now. Eeek. I think it’s my wrist telling me to chill out and sit down. I did work hard today. Now I am making spaghetti to reward myself. 🙂 Yum. I’m going to spend the evening watching DVDs and munching on good pasta. Yay.

The neighbor across the hall from me is insane. From time to time, she’ll get these notes from the rental office and stand in the hall screaming explicatives, but let three boys move my furniture in and she’ll yell (from behind her closed door) “HEY! STOP ALL THAT DAMN NOISE OR I’M GOING TO TELL THE LANDLORD!” Um, hi. The property manager and I are friends. Not only that, but THEY WERE MOVING FURNITURE. Chris finally yelled “IT’S CALLED MOVING, LADY!” And Aidan, the little parrot, would yell at her door every time SHE yelled “IT’S CALLED MOVING, WADY!”

So now, I have a futon that serves as a couch, bookcases for all my books, an entertainment center for my TV, DVD player and DVDs, and a desk for non-computery stuff, and a dresser. Aidan has a bed in his room now, that I will make up with the Mickey Mouse sheets I used in college (he specially asked for Mickey Mouse). I also have a nice baker’s rack in the kitchen. It looks like home in here. It’ll look better once I get all the rest of the stuff cleaned up.

Okay, dinner’s ready! See ya!

Sunday Afternoon Randomness

My friend crimsonghost_oh visited me for the weekend. It was fun. I made him watch The Boondock Saints, and now he wants to go buy it. YESSSS, another convert! 🙂

My laptop is home from the doctor. The Geek Squad said they’d need $130 to do an “XP Reimage” because it had spyware and viruses on it. As if I have $130 lying around to give them for something I can do myself?

I just finished The Geography of Girlhood by Kirsten Smith. There are blurbs all over the back of the book, and one of them is from Julia Stiles. My first thought: How in the FRESH HELL did a first-time novelist get a blurb from JULIA STILES? Well, turned out that this author co-wrote some very famous screenplays—one of them being Ten Things I Hate About You, which if I am not mistaken, Julia Stiles played in, so yeah. Ha. Can you imagine, getting blurbed by an A-list actress? Well, she’s A-list in my eyes, anyway.

Speaking of writing, I entered that contest over at Gather.com, and I haven’t been back in two days to check my score or any comments. I kind of just want to forget about it now—if I obsess over it, I’ll be miserable and stressed. I’m proud I had the balls to enter, but now I just want to block it from my mind.

In the meantime, adamselzer‘s book is kicking butt in reviews. I saw it at the library the other day, and when I looked it up, the Columbus Libraries had 14 copies, 9 of which were checked out. Now, the library owns 16 copies. Go Adam! (If you can’t guess, I’m doing my favorite thing again—reserving books at the library! It’s like shopping, only FREE!)

Last week, I finally got through Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. I had a HARD time with it, only because it was very stressful to read. It felt like a continuous assault to me. Description, action, bang bang bang. I like fast-paced novels with strong voices, but this one was too much for me.

And now I am reading My Brother’s Keeper by Patricia McCormick, and Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares. After that, I will read Monster by Walter Dean Myers, and maybe I’ll try Envy by Robin Wasserman again. Actually, I might do Monster before the Sisterhood book because I’ve had that one longer.

Firefox updated itself on my computer and now none of my fun extensions and themes work. Let me tell you how annoying that is! As far as FF is concerned, my computer has no freakin’ clue. I can’t even import the bookmarks in another browser because the computer doesn’t know they’re there, although THEY ARE VERY CLEARLY IN FIREFOX. I don’t know what to do, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled a million times, deleted directories and all that good stuff. It’s just a hot mess. Which is a shame because I love Firefox normally. Flock is okay, but the backward and forward arrows are just that. There are no drop-downs to get you to the other pages you visited. But all of my Firefox extensions are working in Flock so maybe I’ll just switch to that one, once I get all the bookmarks moved over somehow.

Tomorrow, I see Aidan for the first time in about 20 days. So weird, not seeing him for so long, although I did talk to him on the phone.

Here is a question I have: Why in the world would someone pay $249 for an 8 gig iPod nano, when one can get a 30 gig regular iPod for the same price? I mean, the logic should be obvious here, right? And yes, I am dreaming of a new iPod. Mine stays charged for about 20 minutes these days, IF I am lucky, and it’s not color nor does it play videos. I want a NEW one. I also want a MacBook Pro. Just because. I can’t afford any of these things, but I sure do want them. All because I love technology. Blah.

I have a coupon for a free panty from Victoria’s Secret. I’ll go on Tuesday to get that, yee-haw. I also have one for a free aromatherapy thing from Bath & Body Works, but of course, THEIRS is with purchase. Poopheads. But here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to buy a $2.50 bar of soap or something and then get my $13 value aromatherapy thing. I love their Cherry Blossom scent, so I’ll probably get a bar of the soap. Mmm. Soap.

I’m hungry, but I can’t decide if I want spaghetti, or a turkey sammich. I guess my stomach will decide for me before long.

Til next time!

Earlier, I was writing a LJ update on my laptop when it overheated and shut off. 🙁 I can’t wait to get the notebook fan I ordered from HiPoints. I’ve been a member of Harris Poll online for years, and I’d accumulated over 13,000 points. I wasn’t impressed with anything in the 10,000 point folio, so I decided to get several little things. So here’s what I ordered:

1. programmable wireless optical mouse
2. notebook fan thingy
3. 1-year subscription to Glamour magazine
4. cordless Dirt Devil vac

I love shopping when I don’t have to spend any money. They even cover shipping!

That also means getting packages in the mail over the next several weeks, so yay for that.

Spent the weekend with little Aidan. He’s so cute. He gets so wound up over the smallest things sometimes. He totally got that from his dad. 😉 Other than that, he’s hilarious. Some of the things he comes up with, I’m just amazed. And watching him fall asleep at night. It’s the most precious thing to see. I’m so lucky to have such a cuddly, beautiful little boy. 🙂

My Little Model Puppy Aidan!

He left about 10:30 this morning, and I immediately went back to bed, and read. Then I took a nap, and read some more. Today, I read Peeps by Scott Westerfeld. I loved it. I immediately went to the library website and put the sequel on reserve. And I added Peeps to my Reading Pleasure Wish List.

Then I read Then Again, Maybe I Won’t by Judy Blume. Believe it or not, I missed a LOT of Judy Blume books as I was growing up, but I’m making up for it now. Thank GOD for public libraries!

Friday, I watched High School Musical and LOVED it. It’s so fun, and Aidan had me watch the “We’re All In This Together” video over and over. He enjoyed it, too. I return it to Netflix tomorrow, just in time to cancel my free 2-week trial, but I added it to my wishlist in case someone wants to randomly buy me a present. LOL.

It’s COLD out. Temps in the teens. That’s frightening. I hope this doesn’t continue for too long. Looking forward to Spring already.

Weekends go too quickly. Another LONG work week ahead. Oh well. Such is life.

See ya.

Sunday Night

Another weekend has passed. Went and got Aidan from my mom’s yesterday. He was being as silly and cute and sweet as ever. Getting back into mommy mode is always a challenge after these long breaks, though.

Yesterday, I finished reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, and now I’m reading Pretties. Specials is ready for me to pick up at the library, so I’m going to do that Tuesday. They’re very intense books, hard for me to blow through like I do with most YA novels. Interesting stuff, though.

Today, I watched The Covenant. It was predictable, but the guys were hot. Not a favorite, but it was enough to pass the time. I had a pretty lazy Sunday. Reading, resting, sitting in the glider while the electric heater blew directly on me, curled up in a blanket. It was restful. I didn’t get bored until the middle of Family Guy this evening.

I blew a fuse yesterday evening. Or tripped the circuit breaker. Whatever it is. I was typing away on the computer, enjoying the really warm air from the electric heater on my toes when PHOOOM. Half the apartment went dark. “Nice,” I muttered. Then I noticed night lights glowing in the other room. I knew then that I’d tripped a circuit. I fixed it and vowed to never put the electric heater on II again. This place can handle I, but not II.

We got a lot of snow, so driving tomorrow is something I am not looking forward to. Everything is prepared for work tonight, so tomorrow morning, I won’t have to rush, and I will probably need extra commute time. The freezing drizzle has me really nervous. That’s the dangerous, scary stuff. I hope the roads are okay by the time rush hour hits.

Lots going on in my mind. Just a lot of thinking I need to do. But scared to start muddling through it all. And paperwork. I’m so gosh darn sick of paperwork. Seems like there is always a problem and people want to point fingers instead of owning up and taking accountability and getting things resolved. I just know I’d like to RELAX fully and completely for once, but I can’t because there is always something to worry about, some issue to deal with.

And God do I need a massage. One of those ninety-minute ones from Gentle Wind by Heather Lane. I just need some Reiki, Swedish and deep tissue. Mmmm. I’m all tied up in knots and it hurts.

But anyway, before I go, here are a couple of surveys.
