Preparing For the Norm & Randomness

Things I Meant to do While Aidan Was Gone But Didn’t:
– Clean the house thoroughly (I only kind of straightened up, sorta)
– Put away my laundry (I guess there is still a bit of time to do that)
– Go to the doctor (he didn’t have any appointments ’til next Friday)
– Scrapbook

Things I DID!
– Organized my pictures
– Worked on my writing
– Nice things for people
– Hung out with some of my friends
– Shopped alone (ah, blisssss)
– Got my eyes checked
– Relaxed on the porch almost every evening since it’s been nice out
– Ate ridiculously unhealthily

It’s going to be so weird having Aidan back. I’ve gotten used to having less responsibility, taking naps after work, and shopping alone. He seems to be having fun at his grandmommy’s which helps me to relax and enjoy the “vacation.” πŸ™‚

I miss Aidan, but not all the work!!

We’re getting him Saturday. People are asking about him and wanting to see him. He’s very missed! πŸ™‚ I just want to hug him!

A Typical Exchange at Work:

Ronni’s Phone: ring ring!
Ronni checks, sees that it’s boss #2

Ronni: Yes, honeychile?
Boss #2: I need you to do me a favor like yesterday. Can you come over?
Ronni: You got any money?
Boss #2: I’ve got one thousand dollars!
Ronni: Okay, I’ll be right over.
Ronni goes to Boss #2’s desk.
Ronni: I’m going to need the cash first, please.
Boss #2: RIGHT!

He owes me a lot of money.

Random Sidenote: I’m eating Reese’s Pieces for breakfast. How’s that for 100% bonafide unhealthy? Thank Craig for my horrible diet; he got me one of those huge bags full of ’em. Yummy!

I have to ration them so I won’t eat the entire thing in one sitting.

So, I’m reading this book called The Boyfriend List. It’s really funny and touchingly realistic. I’m enjoying it a lot. πŸ™‚ I think I will write a review on Amazon about it once I’m done.

I have many books to read, this is so great. πŸ™‚ I love reading. I love sitting on the porch in the warm sun and reading after work–I’m going to miss doing that when Aidan gets back. Going outside with him will not entail sitting and reading, that’s for sure. At least, not until he’s older. I suppose we can go in the backyard–but it won’t be warm back there and what if there are mushrooms growing out of the ground? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

J.K. Rowling has revealed three chapter titles from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to be:

Chapter Two: “Spinners End”
Chapter Six: “Draco’s Detour”
Chapter Fourteen: “Felix Felicis”

Not much longer… not much longer. I’ve already pre-ordered it and I even upgraded the shipping to standard so I can get it that day. YEAH!

I bought stamps yesterday but I’m not exactly sure where I put them. I wonder if they’re in my car? Speaking of, that needs to be cleaned out like NOW. Ugh. I hate a messy car and mine is full of clothes, board games, CDs, wrappings, all sorts of stuff. Yuck. Maybe I’ll do that tonight. πŸ™‚

National Scrapbook Day is April 30, 2005, I believe! Or is it May 7th? Oh poop, who cares? I need to get some scrapping done ASAP! I have all the stuff; all the pictures, an album, adhesives, new scissors, papers, etc. I just need the motivation to sit down and do it! I’ll be more likely to actually do it if I’m with a friend or more. So (itskels), we should make some plans. Leave the little ones with their dads, head over to Archivers or something and scrapbook like mofos. It’s been way too long, yes?

‘Til Later…

Something you don’t hear everyday:

“OOOH! MY BUTT IS WARM!” – said by our own lovely itskels. πŸ™‚

So, I got up Saturday morning and there was snow everywhere. I’d been expecting a dusting; they (meaning the weather people) had forecasted it. But as we were driving up North for Aidan’s vacation (heehee), it was snowing like a mofo. I mean, inches and inches of accumulation. Slushy, slippery, nasty stuff. What in the fresh hell? It’s APRIL. But it’s also Ohio. It could snow in June here. ACK.

And I don’t even know if the darn forsythia bloomed yet, so IT DOESN’T EVEN COUNT.

Oh, don’t tell me you don’t know the legend? Spring won’t officially be here (read: the weather won’t break) until there have been three snows after the forsythia blooms. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t seen one flower yet. Well, no blooms anyway. Saw a few greens. And the poor daffodils that were pushing through–if they survive this, then I’ll bow down to them. Yes, to flowers. Shutup.

for Rob: IT TOO BIG FOR YOU!

So, I’m working on The Bark and Microsoft Word is being a right pain in the arse. Sometimes, I’ll add a line break and four pages of text will disappear! What in the fresh hell? I’m almost done with it, though. I have to make the collage (I’ll do that tomorrow) and get Joe’s cartoon and it should be all set. πŸ™‚

Read “Keeping The Moon” by Sarah Dessen in one day. Wonderful, captivating book. *sigh* I can be that successful if I’d get over this stupid fear. πŸ™

I’m going to read Broken China by Lori Aurelia Williams next.

<3 Young Adult Novels!

OOOHOOOH, do you want to see a video of Aidan acting silly?

Clicky and download a zip file, then. Inside is an mpeg file, and it should work with any player. 9.31 megabyte download. πŸ˜€ My son is crazy! (In a good way!)

I can’t believe he’s mine! πŸ™‚

And… and PICTURES!! πŸ˜€

This is my sweet new car radio. (Head unit?) πŸ˜€

Becky and I at House of Japan for sushi and other really yummy stuff. I aime Becky tres much.

What I had. Okay, so I ate one before I decided to take the picture, but you get the point. Yummm.

So why did my husband put on nine pounds of cologne just to go to sleep?

Although I was expecting a huge cleaning project when Aidan was gone–I guess Chris did it all. So, I can spend a lot of time relaxing. Not to worry, there is still plenty for me to do, but not as much now. YAY.

Church soon. Then lunch after, maybe? And I’m not sure about Bible Study–I haven’t been reading and I have to get a jump on this writing and other projects while I have the chance (read: while I have the freedom to do it). We’ll see how tomorrow goes. Won’t be wearing my new outfit, that’s for sure, since the weather is doing that “I’ll be nice when everyone is stuck at work but I’ll turn CRAPPY on the weekends” thing again. Wah.

‘Til later…

A Perfectly Pointless Potluck Entry

I am no longer allowing myself to go to Barnes and Noble without supervision. I tend to have a severe lack of self-control when I’m in there. I LOVE books, guys. And around every corner I find one, two, or three more that I want. Last night, I picked up:

Ten Minute Yoga for Flexibility & Focus (from the Bargin Bin)
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel: Even More Confessions of Georgia Nicolson
Webster’s New World Power Vocabulary vol. 2 (from Bargin Bin)
Angry Little Girls.

I WANT THIS: The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language. Drooooool. Call me sad if you want, but I love dictionaries. LOVE.THEM.

(I used to hate them in 3rd grade–I’m sure my teacher would be shocked to see the word buff I’ve become.)

I’d actually love one of those dictionaries that are so large they have to have their own stands. Like the ones at the library. Whoa.

OR THIS: Twenty Volume Oxford English Dictionary set. $1,350.00!!!! Sacre bleu & Mon Dieu!!!!

Went to Target yesterday and went a little bit crazy. I got a Sonicare Toothbrush and whoa. I love it. πŸ™‚ I used a sonic toothbrush years and years ago before they even became “trendy,” and I loved it then. But the company stopped making them, and it got to the point where it would never hold a charge anymore, so no more sonic toothbrush for me. Until last night! YAY!

I’m hungry.

OOoooOooo! It’s supposed to be such a pretty day today!! Temps in the 70s, sunshine! πŸ™‚ My favorite kind of weather! Ooo, Spring please hurry. I am so sick of the winter and cold and greys. I’m ready for nice weather and parties and cookouts (yummy hamburgers on a grill!) and parks, driving barefoot, game nights, and fun, fun, fun!

(Plus, Chris got a big a$$ bonus so we’re finally getting air conditioning! PARTY-TIME!!!)

So UNFOCUSED! Mmyeah, can you say SPRING FEVER??!?!??!

I should get new glasses. I love my drill mounts but they are a right pain in the arse to maintain. They loosen way too often.

And if I want a job in Communication, I’m going to have to leave Nationwide. I’ve lost count of all the jobs I’ve applied for and gotten rejected every single bloody time. If they’d just INTERVIEW me they could see…but they keep yanking in people off the streets. Grrrrrrr. How can someone off the street know more about the company than someone who’s worked here for SIX YEARS?

I know what it is. They see “Administrative Secretary” and immediately think “she’s stupid.” I don’t know why I even bother, here. Secretaries get no love, no respect. So, I’m going to have to keep looking elsewhere.

Everyone keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I am ripe, absolutely RIPE for a new career; one that is closer to my passion of editing/proofreading/writing.

Switching gears…

Have you ever had a feeling, unexplained, that something yummy and exciting was going to happen? I’m getting that feeling now. It’s rare; this blind optimism, this anticipation and tingly hope. I wonder if it’s because it’s sunny and warm outside? Or maybe because I’m wearing lots of pink today? Or perhaps it’s because I’m finally starting to feel more normal and less sick!! I feel like I have energy for days. IT’S GREAT! πŸ˜€

I almost broke down and bought one of those “Gossip Girl” books, but decided against it because I prefer first-person told stories over third-person told stories, especially in YA novels. Then I almost bought Broken China, and I think I still might, actually.

Has anyone read those A-List books? What do you think?

Ack. My reading list is growing quicker than my income. Methinks it’s time to head to the library again. Reserve and self-checkout is a beautiful thing. Quick, painless, and I come away with BOOKS!!!!! πŸ˜€

Which Napoleon Dynamite character are you?

Bahahaha! πŸ™‚ I like Deb. And I use Caboodles. πŸ˜‰

Interesting Weekend

Spent Friday night with my brother and Aidan. That was great. It’s always amazing to hang out with Rob. Took them to Max & Erma’s and then we went to Best Buy. I bought Popular The 2nd Season on DVD. Actually, Mommy did. I used the gift card she gave me. πŸ™‚ After that, I went to Craig’s where a bunch of people were hanging out and watching the basketball games. Brackets, brackets, brackets. Lord help me.

Joshua A: Cats gone wild!

Most of the day Saturday was spent with a home improvement guy. We *almost* got what he was offering, but Chris got 2nd thoughts so we decided against it. Saturday evening, Chris and I took Becky out to dinner at House of Japan. We ate sushi! (I am so excited that Becky is into sushi now!) I ate other stuff too; too much food. The chef was hilarious. I took pictures. Will have them up soon, I hope.

After dinner, Chris and Aidan went to Craig’s and I came home. I was tired and not feeling well, so I cleaned my room and did my hair. Then I turned in around 1030ish. Early night for me!

Church was cool. I was disappointed that we were not allowed to sit on the floor in the back anymore. I rather liked it there. Todd A was back in town for the weekend; it was great to see him. Saw Garth too, who I’d missed a LOT. We had lunch at Cheeseburger In Paradise which was quite yummy. I brought a lot home, though. Katie gave me a mini-massage which was incredible. She’s so good! Spent most of the day with Bizzy which was a ton of fun, especially since we spent most of the time in Best Buy speaking in British accents. That was awesome. πŸ™‚ Bible study did not happen–the leader Robbie was out sick, and the few of us that showed up kind of hung out for a bit before disbursing. It’s always good to see Monica, Megan S (megnita), and Katie M.

I got three books at Barnes & Noble. The next two in the Georgia Nicholson series, and a book by some lady whose last name is Sark. The title is too long for me to remember right now, but it looks like it’s going to be great. I can’t wait. And I found my yoga book, which I am totally stoked about. From Best Buy, I bought The Wiz. Only $5.99. And I didn’t actually buy it; I still had money on my gift card! I still do!

I love books.

So I definitely need a new car stereo. I was going to go tomorrow to buy it and get it installed (if the wait wasn’t too long), but I think I’ll just wait ’til the weekend. I’ll go early in the day so they can install it same day for sure. It will be sweet; I already know which one I’m getting. I’m getting the iPod mount too, so I can listen to my iPod in the car. It’ll charge it as I’m driving, so no more iPods dying on me like mine did on the way to church! And no more iTrip to deal with either. Woo.

About 5am Saturday morning, Aidan woke up crying. I can’t listen to my baby cry, so I brought him in here with me. He went back to sleep but was up at 8. This was BAD because I’d not been asleep very long. I had stayed up late downloading free MP3s from http://music.download.com Lots of great stuff there! Lots of amazing trance. I can’t wait to try it all. My iPod is very happy. πŸ™‚ Saturday night, I was in bed when Chris got home from Craig’s, but Aidan was asking for me so he put him in here. Aidan cuddled up to me and said “MommEE MommEE” and kept patting my cheek. Let me tell you. That’s an amazing way to fall asleep. This precious little boy softly patting your cheek. Wow. So he and I cuddled and slept all night in here. He didn’t wake up til almost 10 and that’s because Chris’s alarm went off. He was a great little boy all day; well, what I saw of him anyway. Sundays tend to be pretty whirlwind for me because I’m so busy with church stuff. I don’t see Aidan a lot on Sundays. πŸ™

Anyway…

Off to bed with me. I grabbed a short nap, then Becky called (and it’s always a pleasure to talk to her). But I’m going back to sleep now. Byeeeee!

Just Writing.

Just felt like writing. I slept on the couch last night because I was coughing so much I didn’t want to wake up Aidan. Tonight, I’m sleeping in the guest room so I can cough to my heart’s content. Except, I’m not really content when I’m coughing so much….

Aidan is so precious. It’s kind of weird to me how Chris can leave him alone and crying before he goes to sleep. I’m sure I derail whatever Chris is trying to teach him by doing that because if I hear Chris leave Aidan’s room and Aidan is screaming, I drop everything and go in there with him. I did that a bit ago. Aidan just wanted a soft cheek to touch as he fell off to sleep. It’s so amazing how this little hand is so gentle and special. So full of non-judgement and unconditional love. I don’t like for people to touch my face, but Aidan has full reign. πŸ™‚

I’m slowly starting to feel better. The coughing fits seem to be getting milder, thank goodness. I can sit up for longer than an hour at a time. I don’t feel nearly as exhausted and stuffy as I did before. The first part of this week was pretty much a blur, especially Tuesday and Wednesday. A congested, stuffy-nosed, coughing-filled blur. I hate being sick so much. I lose out and I get so behind and I have no energy for anything. Finally am I starting to feel a bit more like myself.

It must be “Thursday.” I remember back in early 2000, I had a horrible case of the flu. I was throwing up, I could not sit up for more than ten minutes at a time. I had absolutely no appetite. I was sleeping all day. I was miserable and crying because I was so weak and tired and sick. Then Thursday came and I felt better. Chris gave me orange juice and I am convinced the o.j. helped me somewhat. I remember watching Ever After and feeling so happy that I could walk to the bathroom without feeling like I was going to collapse.

One of my books that I put on reserve is in at the library–Speak. Becky recommended it to me, so I’ll go and pick that up soon; they’re holding it ’til the 23rd. I’ll turn in Wicked while I’m at it. I put that third book in the Traveling Pants series on reserve, but last I checked, I was number 115! It’s going to be a while before I get to read that book, huh? Of course, I could just buy all three of them from amazon the next time I get paid. Actually, I may have gotten paid today…? I’m not exactly sure. Hmmm.

There is a cat in here purring. I think it may be Fi. πŸ™‚ Yup, it’s Fi. Yay.

<3 Rob & Bizzy <3!!!
(and ho hos and macaroni and cheese!)

I am having a fit. A Megan (megnita) fit. (ya know, like a nicotene fit?) I haven’t seen her in ages. I must hang out with her soon.

Meep
