My Geek, It SQUEES!

Just watched the newest episode of Doctor Who.

IT’S AWESOME.

Wow, it’s awesome.

I’m a fairly new Doctor Who fan, having started watching them with the 9th doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston. But it was David Tennant’s doctor who cinched my love of the show because he was an amazing doctor (and he will aways be MY doctor). I don’t have much interest in the old series, although I do try to watch them. I should watch the fourth doctor, seeing as everyone seems to love him so much. And he has an awesome scarf.

Anyway, this new doctor has grown on me and quickly. And the new companion? Super cool. All the previews did her no justice. I’m so excited for this season of Doctor Who. New TARDIS. New sonic screwdriver. And some old “friends” to make things interesting.

Squeee!

Weekend End

Today I hooked my monitor and stuff up to my laptop. Then I realized that I needed a USB keyboard, so off to Best Buy we went. I was going to get a wireless keyboard and mouse ($49), but then I saw a nice $19 USB keyboard, wired, but good enough for what I wanted, so I got that. THEN I picked up a 160 gig external hard drive ($89). I’m backing up all my files now. YAY. This was important to me because I was feeling weird about having all my precious files on one place. Call me paranoid, but after losing two computers within two weeks of each other, I don’t want to take anymore chances.

I mean, I know it’s weird, but I missed writing at my desk. So until I get my desktop computer from Andy, I will probably keep my laptop hooked up here… well, at least until I need to be downstairs with my laptop, like tomorrow, for instance. I’d LOVE a docking station, but I am not sure if they make them for my particular computer. That way I can just plop it on the station and not have to worry about stopping things and unhooking them and stuff. But again, I’ll get my desktop sometime, so I probably won’t even need to do that. We’ll see. πŸ™‚

Fifteen out of forty-nine folders have been copied, and it’s been going for about 90 minutes now. πŸ˜€ I have about 70 gigs of stuff to move over.

Chris is planning a vacation for us. Unfortunately, not Disneyworld. πŸ™ However, it will be the southwest, so I’m okay with that. Vegas (a stripview room in Rio!!), Phoenix, Mexico. Good times. It will be my first time visiting outside of the U.S. I know, sad, isn’t it? I’ve never even been to Canada, not yet anyway. Anyway, can you say BELLAGIO BUFFET??? And fountains, and the malls and pretty stuff and photo ops… YES. Can’t wait. πŸ˜€

Yesterday, I spent the whole day indoors thanks to a poopy scratchy/sore throat. Chris took Aidan to the Air Force Museum, so I got some quality rest in. Then I watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Robert Pattison is illegally handsome. πŸ˜€

Today, I found out that Katie reads my LJ, so hi Katie!! ♥ Same to all you “IRL” people who read my journal. Don’t be afraid, come on out and say hi! πŸ˜€

Right now, Aidan is watching Monsters, Inc which I bought today, along with The Parent Trap. I’m looking for Blast from the Past on DVD. I wonder if it’s out. It’s such a cute movie! Okay, I’m being summoned by my little guy. I’m also craving bacon like WHOA but I don’t have any in the house, and I doubt I could convince Chris to go out and get me some. 😑

Anyway, good night!!

A Perfectly Pointless Potluck Entry

I am no longer allowing myself to go to Barnes and Noble without supervision. I tend to have a severe lack of self-control when I’m in there. I LOVE books, guys. And around every corner I find one, two, or three more that I want. Last night, I picked up:

Ten Minute Yoga for Flexibility & Focus (from the Bargin Bin)
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel: Even More Confessions of Georgia Nicolson
Webster’s New World Power Vocabulary vol. 2 (from Bargin Bin)
Angry Little Girls.

I WANT THIS: The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language. Drooooool. Call me sad if you want, but I love dictionaries. LOVE.THEM.

(I used to hate them in 3rd grade–I’m sure my teacher would be shocked to see the word buff I’ve become.)

I’d actually love one of those dictionaries that are so large they have to have their own stands. Like the ones at the library. Whoa.

OR THIS: Twenty Volume Oxford English Dictionary set. $1,350.00!!!! Sacre bleu & Mon Dieu!!!!

Went to Target yesterday and went a little bit crazy. I got a Sonicare Toothbrush and whoa. I love it. πŸ™‚ I used a sonic toothbrush years and years ago before they even became “trendy,” and I loved it then. But the company stopped making them, and it got to the point where it would never hold a charge anymore, so no more sonic toothbrush for me. Until last night! YAY!

I’m hungry.

OOoooOooo! It’s supposed to be such a pretty day today!! Temps in the 70s, sunshine! πŸ™‚ My favorite kind of weather! Ooo, Spring please hurry. I am so sick of the winter and cold and greys. I’m ready for nice weather and parties and cookouts (yummy hamburgers on a grill!) and parks, driving barefoot, game nights, and fun, fun, fun!

(Plus, Chris got a big a$$ bonus so we’re finally getting air conditioning! PARTY-TIME!!!)

So UNFOCUSED! Mmyeah, can you say SPRING FEVER??!?!??!

I should get new glasses. I love my drill mounts but they are a right pain in the arse to maintain. They loosen way too often.

And if I want a job in Communication, I’m going to have to leave Nationwide. I’ve lost count of all the jobs I’ve applied for and gotten rejected every single bloody time. If they’d just INTERVIEW me they could see…but they keep yanking in people off the streets. Grrrrrrr. How can someone off the street know more about the company than someone who’s worked here for SIX YEARS?

I know what it is. They see “Administrative Secretary” and immediately think “she’s stupid.” I don’t know why I even bother, here. Secretaries get no love, no respect. So, I’m going to have to keep looking elsewhere.

Everyone keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I am ripe, absolutely RIPE for a new career; one that is closer to my passion of editing/proofreading/writing.

Switching gears…

Have you ever had a feeling, unexplained, that something yummy and exciting was going to happen? I’m getting that feeling now. It’s rare; this blind optimism, this anticipation and tingly hope. I wonder if it’s because it’s sunny and warm outside? Or maybe because I’m wearing lots of pink today? Or perhaps it’s because I’m finally starting to feel more normal and less sick!! I feel like I have energy for days. IT’S GREAT! πŸ˜€

I almost broke down and bought one of those “Gossip Girl” books, but decided against it because I prefer first-person told stories over third-person told stories, especially in YA novels. Then I almost bought Broken China, and I think I still might, actually.

Has anyone read those A-List books? What do you think?

Ack. My reading list is growing quicker than my income. Methinks it’s time to head to the library again. Reserve and self-checkout is a beautiful thing. Quick, painless, and I come away with BOOKS!!!!! πŸ˜€

10 Reasons

Ten Reasons Why I Am A Dork

1. I took an intermediate level Word 2000 class today and ENJOYED it.
2. I am excited to play around with Word 2000 and try out all the new stuff I learned.
3. I can’t remember Mommy’s phone number.
4. I am home alone on a Friday night. πŸ™
5. I ate 2 meals and 2 granola bars today and I feel like I’ve made a pig of myself.
6. I get excited about tator tots. TATOR TOTS. Can you freakin’ imagine…? (Had some and a hamburger for lunch today)
7.

Okay, so I could only think of 6 reasons for now. You know what? Aidan is starting to say more and more words. Today, my car was making that “ding dong turn on your seatbelt, dork” sound, and Aidan starting saying it. Well, just the “ding dong” part. And he says “moon” and “mommy” and “daddy” and “me” (stands for mine or my). He also says a bunch of stuff that sounds like sentences, but only Aidan can understand them.

And I LOVE the way he smells. He always smells so yummy. I could just hold him and smell him. Unless he is poopy. But otherwise, he just smells so good. My little Aidan. πŸ™‚

I also realized something as I was driving today. I’d always wanted to stop and take pictures of the leaves changing and stuff. Now, I can. ‘Cause I have my own car and if I feel like stopping, I can. Woohoo.

I have some library books due, but I can’t remember what day they are due on. I’ve become rather attached to one of them and I really don’t want to give it up, as it can’t be found in stores, but I must. Drat. I wonder if I can turn it in, and then take it out again the next day? Technically, that’s not renewing (for the 4th time)….

Alrighty. Aidan wants to go downstairs, and he asked nicely. So, for now, I’m outta here.

Raise Your Hands!

If anyone out there has flip-flop shaped tan lines on his/her feet, please say “AYE!”

(Ronni says “aye” in a little voice).

Things I have to do tomorrow/this weekend:

– Drop off school supplies at the church.
– Buy baby wash and shampoo for Aidan.
– Clean the master bathroom.

So, speaking of bathrooms…

(As posted in my AIM profile):
You know, it’s probably not a good thing to get out of the bathtub and find that the lower part of one’s body–coincidentally, the part that was immersed–is bright red.

I must have made the water too hot again.

Meep.

Everyone please pray/hope/think about Chris tomorrow morning, okay? πŸ˜‰
