Working Girl

Tomorrow, I start freelance proofreading for Ogilvy, an ad agency. It was just one of those things–walking in for the interview, I felt like I belonged there. The commute is easy, the place is neat, they supply ICE CREAM, there are game tables and updated software and computers, and I can wear jeans and listen to headphones while I work.

But best of all, I get to do what I love!

I have never been so excited about starting a new position before.

YAY!!!

Letter to Mother Nature

O Mother Nature,

I understand that it’s February and we’re in the thick of winter and all, but really, are the BITTERLY COLD temperatures necessary? I **get the point** when the temps drop to the low 30s and upper 20s. It’s winter. It’s the cold season. The smart mammals are hibernating and oblivious to the madness. I don’t need to continuously experience temps in the teens and single digits. And those days of below zero temps were just CRUEL.

So please, will you spare us? I’ve experienced enough winter to last a lifetime. I am willing to compromise. Give me upper 20s and lower 30s. Upper 30s would be ideal, but I have the feeling I’m pushing it by asking for those. I know there are two bitterly cold days coming up, and then a day in the 30s. Can we not dip below those beautiful 30s for the remainder of the season? The bitter cold temps will not endear me to future winters, but NORMAL temperatures will make them more bearable.

I beg of you. Think of the CHILDREN.

Looking forward to mid-May (when Chicago finally realizes that it’s OK to get warm and stay that way),
Ronni
