Some of Y’all Try to Rhyme But Y’all Can’t Rhyme Like This

Had an okay Sunday. I was actually kind of productive, if you want to know the truth. I sort of organized my CDs (I actually simply repacked most of them), and I partnered the missing cases with their CD counterparts. I still have a lot of blank cases and CDs that don’t seem to know where they go, so I guess I have some more work to do. And I didn’t find my Boys II Men Motownphilly CD. Boo.

Last month, Adam gave me a VCR because he knew I’d wanted one and that they’re stupidly expensive. He had an extra randomly lying around, and offered it to me. THAT was fun getting home on the plane, let me tell you. 🙂 Anyway, I finally got around to hooking it up today, and the Playstation I got from my mom’s on Christmas. YAY, right? I spent hours watching old MMC episodes. OMG yes, I can still do a LOT of the dance steps. It’s been 14 years, but I picked up on those steps like it was yesterday. That’ll help keep me in shape, that’s for sure. I had fun going down MMC/Memory Lane. I have tapes and tapes of MMC stuff to watch, not to mention tapes of movies like Little Girls in Pretty Boxes (a Lifetime Original starring Swoosie Curtz!), and I should have the video of when I actually met MMC. Good times. It’s so cool to have a VCR again. All I need now is a universal remote. And a memory card for the Playstation. I wonder if they’re really cheap for the original? I suppose I can check at Buy It/Trade It, because as usual, people on eBay overcharge for shipping. Greedy-you-know whats. I’m not dumb enough to think it costs $8 to ship a freakin’ one ounce piece of equipment.

I didn’t eat much today, but I think what I ate was good. I had a small Healthy Choice frozen dinner. It was on sale for $1.84 and I wanted something quick. I am usually wary of frozen dinners because they tend to have a LOT of sodium. But this had only about 500 mgs of sodium (2 grams per day is what my mom, who has a heart condition, is allowed to have, and I try to keep within that range for myself). The meal was chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans and carrots. I also supplemented with a serving of sauteed fresh spinach and a slice of wheat bread. Yummy.

Big Brother. This is my feeling about it right now: >.< *sigh* Blah. It's already after 10pm. Another long week ahead, but at least there is a new HARRY POTTER book at the end. I hope the week doesn't go by too terribly slow, as I'll be looking forward to that greatly. I will shut myself off from the world next weekend, so if you call or anything, don't be offended if I don't answer. Just sayin'. G'night.

Way I Are – Timbaland
I heard this song for the first time on the radio on the way home from work today. I was enjoying the beat. Then I heard the chorus. A part of it. THE WAY I ARE. Again, I like the beat. It’s a catchy song. But, as a copy editor, I feel morally obligated to refrained from obtaining it in any way, shape or form. It’s like the way I cringe when, In Big Girls Don’t Cry, Fergie sings, “like a child misses their blanket.” The noun/pronoun agreement in that sentence is off. But I like the song. So now what? *sigh* I just know that everytime I hear that “way I are” part I’m going to want to throw something across the room. So I guess the answer is to let the song be.

During the Spring, I was taking the Zaner-Bloser Handwriting course. It was a correspondence course. I worked on certain letters, manuscript and cursive, and turned them in to an evaluator. It was HARD. Writing is very much about muscle memory, and my hands had been trained to write a certain way, to make letterforms a certain way. To retrain is hard and painful. Even still, I got very good scores on my lessons, and on June 7th, I became certified to model and teach Zaner-Bloser Handwriting! 🙂 Yay.

Other than that, work’s been pretty run-of-the-mill.

I did a BAD THING last night. I installed Zoo Tycoon on my computer. And no, not the new one. The ORIGINAL one. And I played it for TWO HOURS. ARGH. I can’t believe I got sucked in again. I managed to spend $250,000 trying to get the thing established, and the stupid giraffes just kept on being pissed off, and the stupid zookeepers and maintenence workers refused to clean up all the poop which pissed the giraffes off even more! So I sold all the giraffes, and I’m going to rebuild the exhibit and only put two giraffes giraffes in there. I’d added too many before, then they started making babies and oh man. OUT OF CONTROL. I never got any of the expansion packs, and I don’t know if I am going to ever invest in the newer versions (they look fun!), but I tihnk that’ll be okay. Speaking of computer games… OMG Bookworm Adventure. Defeat the enemies by making big words!!! Yeah, game heaven for a word geek like me.

This just in:
Nielson did some research on the Harry Potter phenomena, and here’s a statistic that surprises me:

51% of people age 12+ in the U.S. are aware that the new Harry Potter book is coming out in July.

I honestly thought it’d be a higher percentage. Wow. But I think 51% is still pretty darn impressive.

The whole “Save Harry” campaign is kind of annoying. Let the author do what she will. Signing a petition to get her to sign more books, while it must be flattering, has to be kind of infuriating as well. The security measures around the book are crazy!!!!! I can’t believe the lengths these companies are going through to keep it secret. Well, one week and one day, and the fans can be satisfied.

And one last note…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO goaliej54!!!!!!! ♥

See ya!

A Few HP Pix (Pictures)

Does this mean I’m a Death Eater?

I didn’t take a ton of pictures last night because I wasn’t exactly sure if we were allowed, but now I have the flyer, and this group (www.dalmatianalley.com) is going to be at the theatre through Sunday and it says “Bring your camera and get pictures with your favorite characters from the film!” Those of you who have been reading this for some time know that I LOVE character greetings and getting my picture with characters. I am so tempted to go back there tomorrow evening and see if I can’t get some pix with some of the characters.

Anyway, here are my favorites from last night.

Onward

I Think I’ll Have Some Pudding Now

Last night I did what no sane person who has to work every day, reading no less, from 7:30am-4pm would do:

I went to a midnight showing of the new Harry Potter movie.

Actually, it was a 12:04am showing. The midnight show was sold out. As was the 12:01am, the 12:03am, the 12:05am, the 12:06am. The 12:07am still had openings as of 6pm yesterday.

When 12:04am came and went with the screen still showing fuzzy ads, the teenagers in the theatre started getting loud. One guy yelled out “THIS IS PREPOSTERUS!” which I found hilarious. I was in my element, though, being surrounded by teens. Most adults hate them, but I’ve always gotten along well with teens. They fascinate me.

The movie started almost ten minutes late, and then we had to sit through all the previews. Blah. (Although, now I have Get Smart and The Golden Compass on my radar).

Anyway….this is cut for spoilerish info.

The Movie!

Potluck

Today is only Monday, isn’t it?

Fartknock.

But Monday is almost over for me, at any rate. Then it’ll be Tuesday. Then it’ll be time to watch the new Harry Potter movie. Whee.

I got interesting mail today.

I had to clean everything out of one of the bookcases in Aidan’s room so the plumber could have access to the wall panel. Something huge got stuck in the drain and they have to bring out the big guns to get it, I suppose. Not only that, but I’m tired of the neighbor’s crap draining into my tub. Ew.

I am frustrated beecause my place is a mess. And to mess something up that had been someone organized is annoying. But at least they’ll fix the drains, I hope.

I hate fruit flies. I also hate looking pregnant.

I love spaghetti, and lavender, though. In fact, my mouth wants spaghetti now. But seeing the way I look right now—yeah, I’m gonna resist.

I wish I could afford organic and natural products. Foods, lotions, soaps, all that.

I want to read Small Town Girl again but I’m not sure where I put the book. It might be buried in the trunk of my car. That is a scary thought.

Bath, then bed time.
