small group

Goodbye, small group.

For those of you that don’t know, we’re going to be calling it quits on this group in its present incarnation in a few weeks.

Well, I saw it coming, but it’s still sad news. πŸ™

I have a feeling that certain people I was almost guaranteed to see every week in group will drop out of my life quite a bit if not at all. πŸ™

I don’t see myself joining any life groups soon, and definitely not leading any. So it’ll be interesting to see what happens….

A Weird Small Group

Ironically, the church service that I walked out on Sunday for several reasons was the topic of discussion tonight at small group. And… it was just weird. At first, I wasn’t really feeling it, but then I was feeling it too much. I had so much I wanted to say, but I kept quiet because to say what was inside of me, I’d have to reveal a lot more than I wanted to reveal tonight.

The passage was on Jonah, and the whole getting swallowed by a fish episode. They kind of puzzled through it. I understood all too well what it meant. I understand all too well what it means, was able to apply it perfectly to my life, to where I am with God, to how I’m feeling about everything and about God. It hit so close to home, I had to make superhuman efforts to keep from getting emotional. To keep from thinking too hard. It’s…I don’t know.

I guess that’s all I wanted to say.

The Quote of the Night came from Joshua: SQUARE BOB SPONGE PANTS! And… and… Paddington Bear will never be the same.

:D

Love toilets…patent office reform…broken $300 digital cameras…mac vs pc…laughter…cell phone scare tactics…brownies…cuddly photos…random thoughts…heated discussions…rob songs…stories about weirdoes…smiles…amazing friendship.

Small group was awesome, as always. Tami led off with a discussion on missions, but it turned rather heated. My favorite kind of discussion. We can disagree, argue, whatever, but it’s always done with respect. I LOVE when Rob is there because I truly enjoy listening to him speak. I like learning how he thinks and how his mind works. I just wish his camera had worked properly with his computer, though. πŸ™ Tyler and I tried everything and it just would not work.

Some of the stories that were told tonight–honestly–kind of gross. But funny nonetheless. There was so much randomness and I hate that I can barely remember any of it!!!

I guess that’s okay, though. It was fun while it lasted. πŸ™‚

Mr. Matt joined us tonight. He’s added an entirely new dynamic to the group and I think it’s going to be mighty interesting in times to come.

I love my small group. Just thought I’d reiterate that. Over and over and so on and so forth. My small group is the best. πŸ˜€ I’m incredibly blessed.

You’ll Never Stand Alone

I stood in line for 90 minutes this morning to cast my ballot. And now, it’s done. We’ll find out who our new president is tomorrow.

Small group was kind of intense tonight. We did some serious praying. Kelly P prayed for me, and her words were so beautiful that I was in tears within seconds. Kim wrapped her arms around me. I feel so yummy around those people. I love talking to them and sharing with them and being around them. And.. ROB showed up! That was a treat. I never see Rob and he’s so cool. Craig bought pizzas. His Dominoes was doing a special for tonight. $3.99 pizzas, unlimited. He hooked us up. I took cookies and M&Ms. Yummm.

I need a full blown Kelly P (who looks very cute with her new haircut) fix soon.

After group, we hung out and chatted. Good times. Interesting conversations. VERY interesting. Talks ranged from prostitution in Vegas, falling asleep randomly, and the proper way to stab someone to the election (UGH), jobs, Tami’s NEED for meat, and at some point, Chris decided to recite the whole “pilot” alphabet. alpha, beta, charlie…. Weird. I was disturbed about Tyler saying he used to read Cosmo for the sex tips. See, he’s a guy. Aren’t the sex tips in those books meant to please MEN?

I know he was kidding. But it was great ammo to tease him with.

I lost my cell phone! πŸ™ akljfalfjdkfa. I think it’s in Garth’s couch. I heard that’s a BAD place for it. πŸ™ I have to get over there and get it out, and soon. Of course, I put the dang thing on vibrate before I lost it, so I couldn’t call it to locate it. BOO. Hopefully I’ll find it soon.

Rob gave me his box of Mentos freshmints or whatever they’re called. They are yummy! πŸ™‚

A few of us went to Craig’s after for an “election party.” We are such dorks. Craig ordered MORE pizza and Tami demanded chicken. So I made her chicken nugget thingys. Then she fell asleep on Craig’s loveseat. I wonder if she’s still there? Rob was cracking me up the whole time. My favorite quote from him tonight was: “I am calling Hell and confirming your reservation.” Favorite quote from Tami: “I like whiskey.” From Garth: “Y’all suck at leaving.”

So, you’re probably thinking “What kind of a Christian small group is this?” Mmm. All I can say is that we’re just normal people. But not so much. We like to act stupid and be sarcastic and tease each other. But then we have each other’s backs all the way. If one of us is sad, someone is going to be there for the other. Hugs, prayers, serious LOVIN’ ON. If something happy happens, then everyone celebrates. We share interests. We share our worries, our lives, ourselves. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Small Group & Stuff

Small group was amazing tonight–one of the best ones I’ve been to. Kelly P talked about Philosophy and God. I had to thank her more than once. It was very interesting. I want her to lead again, and soon. I really, really enjoyed listening to her.

We baked cookies for Kairos, a prison ministry. Our young adult pastor’s father is the head of it. He gives cookies to prisoners and I believe he ministers to him. We made sugar and chocolate chip. It was fun, a great time of fellowship and just yummy feelings all around. (And yummy broken cookies, too).

So, when Ivy was here, she told us that it’s physically impossible to eat a teaspoon of cinnamon without getting sick. Naturally, no one believes her until they try it. So Kelly had said she was going to do it, but Chris ended up doing it. Luckily, we had the trash can right in front of him. He puked immediately. Everyone laughed and Tyler took a picture. (Kelly told him he was mean). Garth was trying so hard not to laugh, but Chris, in the midst of puking, said “I don’t care if you laugh!” So, we did.

I think I left my cinnamon at Garth’s. I’m sure Chris doesn’t mind.

The small group was really great tonight. It was intimate and relaxed. No one felt intimidated and everyone was excited about the subject and about the cookies. It was a great setting. I love my small group, by the way. Did I ever mention that? Let me say it again. More loudly this time.

I LOVE MY SMALL GROUP!

So, during group, Tyler mentioned gas prices and said the Speedway was charging only $1.84 a gallon. (The BP was charging $2.07 a gallon). So, he left a bit earlier than we did. Craig, Chris and I left at the same time and all of us pulled into Speedway. Not even two minutes later, Garth pulled in to get gas. It was quality!

My friends are awesome. I truly love them.

Tomorrow, I go and get my windshield repaired. WOOHOO. Pray that I don’t need a replacement. That’s $500 I don’t want to put on the now clear credit card. I also get an evaluation at the chiropractors. Pray that goes well. If it does, then I’ll be down to only 30 more days of 3 times a week!

BUGGER. It’s already after midnight. Alright. Good night, kiddies.
