I had the BRIGHT (not) idea to go to the mall today with Aidan in tow. GRUMBLE. What the hell was I thinking? He was fine the first half of the trip. We looked around a few stores, he played in the Zoo Court, and asked cute questions. THEN, he turned into little MONSTER Aidan. I thought he was hungry, so off to the food hall we went. Oh nope. He threw a tantrum there, and we came home. So I figured–oh, he’s tired, we’ll just take a nap. Sure enough, he was falling asleep in the car on the way home, but of course, something happened in the 30 second transition between car and bed. He woke up and proceeded to be annoying for 90 minutes. *sigh* So that means I’m still tired, and I am hesitant about going out later because he didn’t actually nap which could mean yet another meltdown, but I’m so antsy and really not wanting to stay here all day. *sigh* So now what?

Although, the places I’d go this evening would be places that involve shopping carts, so he’d be somewhat restrained, anyway. But man, he and I do more arguing than I’d like, which is frustrating. I try to keep the upper hand, but he always has the last word! And sometimes he’s so unreasonable. For example:

Ronni: Aidan, stop yelling.
Aidan: YOU STOP YELLING!
Ronni: Aidan, I’m not the one who is yelling.
Aidan: YES YOU ARE! NOW STOP IT!

o.O

So whatever else happens, whatever fun thing he was doing gets taken away when he speaks to me that way. I am NOT trying to have my kid on Jerry Springer or something in a few years cussing me out up and down the coastline.

Anyway…

Now it smells good here because I just made Aidan a pot pie. Ugh, I am so freaking tired. πŸ™ No rest ’til tonight/tomorrow, though. I think we will head out to a couple of stores tonight, though, to keep me from going stir-crazy.

Later!

A HUGE storm blew in last night. I was home alone. I was downstairs making a bologna sandwich when it hit full force. It was SO LOUD. I glanced out the window. Visibility was 0. Things were pounding against the windows. I got scared and ran down to the basement. Gracie was right beside me. I crouched down, wondering if I’d REALLY be protected down there if a tornado hit.

I went back upstairs, grabbed a couple of blankets, and went downstairs again. I crouched until all the banging and clanging stopped, then I went back upstairs. The electricity was still on. And it was eerily calm. That scared me.

I was relieved to open the door and see the sky was not green, and it was still raining pretty hard. There was hail everywhere. The yard looked as though it had been snowed in. I grabbed my camera and took pictures because I was just amazed:

The neighbor across the street was grabbing the stuff that had blown over to other’s yards. As I was taking pictures, the tornado sirens came on. That’s when I went back downstairs. Then I calmed down and finished making my dinner, went upstairs, ate, finished reading Burned, played on the computer for a while, took a Tylenol PM, and was out by 9:30 or so. 6:30am STILL came too early, though.

Work was work. I swear, that lunch hour goes by more quickly every day….

The front of the house needs work. The siding is torn in a LOT of places, there are cracked window frames (and possible windows?). It’s kind of scary, you know. This is the second pretty violent storm I’ve been in this year. I ALMOST had a panic attack last night–not even sure how I talked myself out of it. But if the storm had happened three years ago, I’d have been a wreck.

Today’s mail brought some good surprises. The Little Mermaid + goodies, and a beautiful letter from wlotus. I got a letter from verytruly on Monday, so now I have two letters to answer, yay! πŸ™‚

Okay, I am tickled because I just found out that iTunes carries 2Hype by Kid-N-Play. Man. Talk about 1989! *feels old*

The weather was a nice, cool 61ΒΊF today. I can deal with these temps. It’s when they start dipping in the 30s and 40s that I have problems.

Here are a few pictures:

Autumn Sun & Clouds
The fall sky.

Aidan
Little Aidan. Only he’s not so little anymore….

Budding Rose
Rose bud from the yard.

Thank GOD tomorrow is Friday. I don’t have any plans, so maybe I’ll make Aidan watch The Little Mermaid with me, if we don’t do it tonight.

And my latest (amusing) conversation with Aidan:

Aidan: Look at my peepee!
Ronni: (Glances at Aidan. Notices his “peepee” sitting neatly on top of his underwear, which he has pulled down slightly) Aidan, put your peepee away! i don’t want to see your peepee!
Aidan: Look at it!
Ronni: NO!
Aidan: Pwease?
Ronni: No, put it away!
Aidan: I got to go potty.

That child…..

I need to answer emails. And work on a website. And eat at some point, too.

Bye.

Happy! (Pictures)

It’s Friday! πŸ™‚ It’s Payday! I’m smiling! YAY! ♥

I had my year-end review yesterday. You know how I freak out over those, but it went really well. There were some “needs developments” but they were because I was/am new, not because I was/am BAD. Which is great because I love my job, I love what I do, I love the people I work with. She told me to keep doing what I’m doing. But I want to be even better.

So, I mentioned that the aquatic dwellers in my house have a new home. I waited for all the dust to settle before I took pictures, and this morning, the tank was crystal clear. Here it is:

I’m very happy with it. I just need to clean the dang house (we had to rearrange some furniture to accommodate the tank and stand), and I’ll be even happier!

Yes, the house is once again a fall-down mess. Chris said he’ll help clean this weekend, but he’s sick (has what Aidan had), and I know it takes about four days to cycle through the system. I’m going to get Aidan to pick up his stuff because seriously, it’s everywhere. He needs to learn to pick up everything before he goes to bed.

Parenting is HARD. The biggest challenge is trying to maintain consistency. Some nights, I’m just too tired to follow through, although that is easier than trying to establish routines. So yeah. I don’t want Aidan to grow up a spoiled hoodlum, so I do my best. I just worry that my best isn’t always good enough.

It’s raining outside now. Warm, but rainy. Welcome to Spring in Ohio.

Randomly, here is a pic of my beautiful friend Libby and me. πŸ˜€

Aren’t we cute?

I am hungry, and I think I’m going to buy a grilled ham and cheese sammich for lunch. 😑 Hey, I’ll have to go off them soon enough, so I might as well enjoy it now, huh? *sigh* That’s going to be hard, but maybe not so much. If I take my lunch every day, it will be less tempting to buy. In theory anyway.

Things to do:

· schedule an eye appointment
· refill meds
· get ahold of the Smashing Pumpkins song that talkes about being in a rage and being a rat in a cage
· set April writing goals
· pay bills
· attempt to reduce the volume of emails in my AOL inbox (I haven’t even checked my other accounts lately!)

Time to eat lunch!!! πŸ˜€

‘Til next time….
