A HUGE storm blew in last night. I was home alone. I was downstairs making a bologna sandwich when it hit full force. It was SO LOUD. I glanced out the window. Visibility was 0. Things were pounding against the windows. I got scared and ran down to the basement. Gracie was right beside me. I crouched down, wondering if I’d REALLY be protected down there if a tornado hit.

I went back upstairs, grabbed a couple of blankets, and went downstairs again. I crouched until all the banging and clanging stopped, then I went back upstairs. The electricity was still on. And it was eerily calm. That scared me.

I was relieved to open the door and see the sky was not green, and it was still raining pretty hard. There was hail everywhere. The yard looked as though it had been snowed in. I grabbed my camera and took pictures because I was just amazed:

The neighbor across the street was grabbing the stuff that had blown over to other’s yards. As I was taking pictures, the tornado sirens came on. That’s when I went back downstairs. Then I calmed down and finished making my dinner, went upstairs, ate, finished reading Burned, played on the computer for a while, took a Tylenol PM, and was out by 9:30 or so. 6:30am STILL came too early, though.

Work was work. I swear, that lunch hour goes by more quickly every day….

The front of the house needs work. The siding is torn in a LOT of places, there are cracked window frames (and possible windows?). It’s kind of scary, you know. This is the second pretty violent storm I’ve been in this year. I ALMOST had a panic attack last night–not even sure how I talked myself out of it. But if the storm had happened three years ago, I’d have been a wreck.

Today’s mail brought some good surprises. The Little Mermaid + goodies, and a beautiful letter from wlotus. I got a letter from verytruly on Monday, so now I have two letters to answer, yay! 🙂

Okay, I am tickled because I just found out that iTunes carries 2Hype by Kid-N-Play. Man. Talk about 1989! *feels old*

The weather was a nice, cool 61ºF today. I can deal with these temps. It’s when they start dipping in the 30s and 40s that I have problems.

Thank GOD tomorrow is Friday. I don’t have any plans, so maybe I’ll make Aidan watch The Little Mermaid with me, if we don’t do it tonight.

Aidan: Look at my peepee!
Ronni: (Glances at Aidan. Notices his “peepee” sitting neatly on top of his underwear, which he has pulled down slightly) Aidan, put your peepee away! i don’t want to see your peepee!
Aidan: Look at it!
Ronni: NO!
Aidan: Pwease?
Ronni: No, put it away!
Aidan: I got to go potty.

That child…..

I need to answer emails. And work on a website. And eat at some point, too.

Good Times, Good Times...

‘Twas a very pleasant day for the fair. The weather was perfect, the skies were blue and sunny. There was a nice breeze, and although it was crowded, it was still fun.

Zoo-Ness (Pictures)

Aidan at the Zoo

Did, indeed, make it to the zoo today. The weather was really nice, so LOTS of people had the same idea. Almost turned around and didn’t go because the line of cars to get in was INSANE. But did manage to cut a lot of people by taking the other lane (apparently most people did not realize there was a second lane into the zoo, or simply chose not to use it for whatever reason), so I was okay with following through. Didn’t stay long because Aidan wasn’t into walking and it was crowded, so seeing the good stuff was a hassle, and large crowds of people slow things down way too much.

I didn’t make it back to the gorillas to visit Dottie, unfortunately. It would have taken forever to get back there at the rate the crowd was moving. But I saw a bunch of other cool animals. 🙂

Scandalous Princesses

Yo ho yo ho!! I’m back from Chicago!! Had an absolutely AMAZING time. That city is simply unbelievable, with mostly friendly people, things to do and see, things to EAT. Oh my gosh. Some of the aromas wafting through the air while walking down the block–so yummy. Freshly baking bread. Pizza everywhere. Mmmmmm.

Got to hang out with quality people while there. Spent some time with the awesome Adam (adamselzer) and Jen*Jen (jebbyk–but don’t bother to go to her journal because she never uses it), ate some really good food (Pie-Eyed Pizza, a neat candy/ice cream shop to name a couple of places)… DUDE, I TRIED THAI FOOD for the first time ever! It was so good. I went easy, got the Pad Thai. I mean, what could be so scary about noodles and beef, right? It was delicious.

Highlights:
– Southwest Airline Flight Attendant: Thank you for flying Southwest. Now get out.
– Seeing Who Framed Roger Rabbit at The Music Box. The Music Box is a beautiful theatre. Here is Bizzy and me clowing around in the lobby before hand:

– The cab ride after Roger Rabbit. Apparently Chicago cabbies are insane. They don’t speak much English, but they do have the cuss words down. One memorable thing the cab driver blurted: Learn how drive, mother fuck!
– SEEING JEN!!! Spending time, catching up, drinking wine (goooood wine) and taking pictures while wearing tiaras.
– The Ghost Tour. Always a good time. We were wild and crazy! Adam was great as a tour guide. The last time I went on a tour, he was tag-teaming it, but this time, he was solo. Good times.
Woooo!

– Tried Stout. Liked it. The first beer I’ve ever actually liked. It’s a miracle, I say!
– FOOD! Pie-Eyed Pizza! Goood coffee and hot chocolate.
– Wearing a tiara during the ghost tour. While nicely buzzing. Then heckling the tour guide. 😉
– Old Town Arts Fair. Yummmy food. I had a boneless BBQ rib sammich. Yummm.
– Corned beef sandwhich from a shop in the airport. Sooo good.
– Finishing CRUSH! Came in at over 50,000 words. WHEW!! 😀

Lowlights:
– Bizzy losing her camera. 🙁 BUT, this story has a happy ending! Jen, Bizzy, and I had to backtrack (a LOT of walking, mind you), search all the stores we’d been in. The last store we had left to check… wait for it… HAD THE CAMERA! Some nice person had just turned it in! Let me tell you how awesome Chicago tends to be in that regard. People there are generally nicer and friendlier than in Ohio.
– Getting yelled at by some PRICK in some stupid thrift shop for taking photos. Okay, firstly, I had no idea that I wasn’t allowed to take photos (and seriously, wtf kind of rule is that anyway?), secondly, HE WAS A PRICK. He didn’t ask me nicely, he screamed it at me. So I was done in the store. I really wish I’d had some merchandise to throw down to the ground. Asshole. Anyway, I got a picture of the stuff anyway. I’m sorry, it was a terrible error and I had to document it. And this picture was taken before the asshole yelled at me:

– The BROWN LINE being delayed! Sooo delayed!!! Ack!
– No orbage action on the ghost tour so much this time around. 🙁
– Flights back to Columbus being delayed like WHOA.
– Time went WAY too quickly. The weekend sped by.

Scandals:
– Bizzy and I using the bathroom together not once, but TWICE.
– Being hit on outside The Clark Bar.
– Bizzy scandalizing random statues and sculptures:
