my scramblings & ramblings
HI!
I hope everyone had a safe and responsible but of course FUN time last night! I had a last day of 2005 and first day of 2006. Time for a RECAP!
First, we went and visited the new baby who shares Aidan’s birthday. Aidan was super gentle with her, and it was the sweetest thing. She’s such a beautiful baby and the parents are totally cool.
Last night, I partied with some friends and brought in the New Year. It was loads of fun.

My week in a nutshell, maybe.
Monday, Chris got Aidan new pets–five fish to be exact. No names yet, but they’re fun and cute:
Tuesday, I ate dinner at Chris’s moms–fried (Honey Baked) ham and eggs and an English muffin coated with jelly YUMMMY. Later that evening, we had a bunch of friends over for our annual Christmas Thingy, and Chris busted out the chocolate fondue fountain he’d gotten for Christmas from my parents. IT WAS A HIT. I mean, yummy. We had fruit and marshmallows to put in the chocolate, which flowed over the sides in sheets. Heavenly. Check out the video of it in action:
After everyone else left, Craig stayed behind while I configured and customized his brand new laptop. At first, I’d wondered why he didn’t call me to go with him, but his reasons were justified:
1. He was buying Best Buy gift cards.
2. It was spur of the moment.
Fun was had by all on Tuesday, and not only did I score more Best Buy cards, I also got THIS:
Wednesday–I sadly have no recollection! Must not have been important. I’m sure I spent a great deal of time on the computer dorking around, but otherwise, I don’t remember much.
Chris and Aidan went to a hockey game Thursday night. I stayed home and pampered myself with an extra long shower and an early bedtime. It was amazing and DEFINITELY needed. But according to the photos, they both had loads of fun:

Friday, we celebrated AIDAN’S THIRD BIRTHDAY!!
Can you believe he’s THREE? I can’t. He got loads of gifts, ate cake, and was generally super cute as always.
And guess what? My friend Jenny, whose shower I went to in October, had her baby–she was born the same day as Aidan. Ha. 🙂
What are your plans for New Years? I plan tol be partying at Chad and Christy’s place ’til God knows when. Knowing me, I’ll be wishing I was home pecking away on the computer. As it is, I hope to get in some writing tomorrow and Sunday as well. I’ll be undoubtedly skipping church, heh. OH yeah, the Davis Family Christmas gift exchange happens that day! I must not be hungover, then. 🙂
Monday, I don’t have to go to work WOOHOO! so it’ll be me and Aidan all day. I’m sure we’ll be fine, though. 🙂 I hope to get a bit of writing done then as well.

Aidan woke up at 8:30am! His diaper was completely soaked, as were all the clothes he had on. We changed him (he wanted to wear Elmo clothes but they were still packed) then headed downstairs to see what Santa brought. He gasped and said “That’s Mine!” It was so cute. It took us about two hours to get though all of our presents–Aidan sometimes would go on strike, or get really hung up on a current toy and not want to move on. So cute.

For the most part, I am very happy. And the .7% which is getting me down–it’ll heal soon.
Why I’m happy:
1. The presents are all wrapped.
2. The living room is clean.
3. The loft is clean.
4. The Christmas cards are finally all done, and I will mail out the rest of them tomo-er, today.
I had a good weekend. Saturday, I slept in, went to counseling, then met Chris for lunch at O’Charley’s. The food was very yummy–and I have leftovers in the fridge that I should tackle. After lunch, we came home to relax. I can’t remember if we took naps or not–I think I tried but didn’t really succeed. I had a new computer to play with! 🙂 We went over to Craig’s, and out to Damon’s (yum) where we met Bizzy and Kyle, and then we all went to Meijer. Craig, Chris and I stayed until 2:30am. Craig spent a lot of money but knocked out a huge hunk of his Christmas shopping. We were there so late that Craig passed out on the floor:
For some reason I was hyper (probably the night-owl thing going on) and I was up ’til 5am. Still, I managed to get up for church Sunday morning! 🙂 It was a good message, and I had fun sitting with Kim PATCH! After church, Josh S, Craig, Chris, Mr. Matt and I ate at Max & Erma’s. Yummm, but I actually did NOT get my usual there. I did get cookies, though. Their Pick 3 is a great deal.
After lunch, I met up with Amy H at Meijer (yes AGAIN) to help her with her shopping. Then I went to Craig’s and wrapped all his presents for him. Wahoo, good times. I also watched a LOT of E! and Food Network. Can’t go wrong with that, huh? Man, I LOVE the Food Network.
Monday, McGraw-Hill had its company holiday party. It took place at Wedgewood Country Club, and they had an open bar and lots of yummy food. I really had a good time there. The best part is that they let us go at 1:30. How awesome is that? 🙂 I took a nap, which was probably a bad idea seeing as I am wide awake now with a FULL work day ahead of me.
So with that note, I’m going to try to go back to sleep–I’m going to read a bit first. I’d forgotten how much I love Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Guess who is now the owner of THIS green dress:
YES YES YES! I bought it today. I found myself at Macy’s, looking for it, feeling disappointed as I came across it in rose, a size 10. I wear a 4 (and it’s still long) and I wanted green. I looked around. Came back to the rose one. Noted that it had a significant price reduction. Oh dear. I knew there was no way I was going to get that dress now–it was beautifull and on sale and GONE. 🙁
I poked around various racks, and my hopes rose slightly when I noticed that there were dresses placed where they did not belong. I got the grand idea to check the sales rack. THERE IT WAS. Dare I hope it was in my size?
BINGO! It was. I grabbed it, jumped up and down screaming “YES YES YES!” then RAN to the checkout. Not only was it on sale, but I ended up getting another 40% off because I got approved for a Macy’s card.
I GOT MY DREAM DRESS FOR MORE THAN HALF OFF THE ORIGINAL PRICE!!!!!
OWN IT.
Now I just need somewhere to wear it, HA HA HA HA!
(a good hemming couldn’t hurt either, huh?)
I got a lot of Christmas stuff done today. 😀 After that, I met up with a bunch of friends for dinner at the Olive Garden. Some of them went on to watch Rent, but the weather started acting weird and I started to crash, so I decided to come home.
YAY for today! It was fun! Earlier, I saw THE GRINCH! He was standing on the sidewalk downtown waving at people! I really wanted to take a picture, but I was driving. That would not have been safe.
