Weird Random Things

Some weird random things I forgot to post about.

1. When we landed in Vegas, the flight attendant said “Welcome to Lost Wages, I mean Las Vegas Nevada.”
2. At the airport yesterday, I ran into a guy I work with. I knew he’d be in Mexico the same week I was in Vegas; totally did not expect to see him at Cleveland Hopkins airport. The funny thing is that I’d been thinking about him and his trip, but I was sure he’d be landing at Port Columbus International. Just goes to show, huh?
3. The bullriders came into town Thursday night. There were tons of them, all in cowboy hats and big belt buckles. There were also lots of gay people. My mom doesn’t think there is a such thing as a gay convention. I am not sure. Is there?
4. One of the costumed people at the Venetian graduated from Ohio State. She was a music major. She said to me: “Here is the true test. O-H!” And I said “I-O.” That’s how she knew I was a true Buckeye. πŸ™‚
5. The entire city of Vegas is SMOKING FRIENDLY. That boggled my mind. People were walking through the malls with cigarettes. All restaurants had smoking, and there was smoke everywhere. It stunk, especially in the older casinos. That part I did not like.
6. Gas prices in Las Vegas averaged $2.27 a gallon.
7. NO ONE had those stupid magnets on the backs on their cars.
8. I talked to another guy and he was from Pittsburg. Why is it that we travel across the country only to find people from our own states/cities or darn close?
9. I finally got carded at my own hotel, one hour before I was supposed to leave for the airport. How is that for ironic?

I was seriously gobsmacked at the amount of money people were throwing away in those machines. All of them trying to hit it big. I was just floored that people would waste money like that on the off chance they might win the Megabucks jackpot, which was well above $13 million. I mean, unreal. And the people drive like they’re crazy. I heard 2 fender benders within hours of each other on Friday. Insane!

My Last Day!

We check out at noon. The flight leaves at around 3pm. We arrive in Cleveland at about 10pm. Another 4 hours on a plane, then I’ll be almost home. Official home doesn’t happen til tomorrow, when Chris gets me to take me back to Columbus/Pataskala. So, I’ll miss church. I’ll probably be tired anyway and want to sleep.

I’m tired now, It’s 9:30am PST, and I’m thinking a short nap will need to happen. Let’s hope housekeeping doesn’t decide to clean the room. But then, that’s what Do Not Disturb signs are for. πŸ™‚ I think I may have to utilize it.

Vegas was a good time. Again, I can’t wait to come back with a couple of girlfriends and just kind of party it up. Or at least have some quality “girly-time.” Any takers? πŸ™‚ Kristie, I already got your memo; of course you’re invited! πŸ™‚

Just so you know, dial-up sucks. I keep getting kicked off and I have a feeling that they’re charging me 75 cents to dial out again every single time. Fart knockers. I can’t wait to get back to broadband. πŸ™‚

Alright. Nappy time. Later, folks.

The Future….

Things I Want To Do Next Time I Come To Vegas:

1. Stay in a hotel on the strip (preferably the MGM Grand).
2. See the Bellagio water show at night.
3. Eat dinner in the Bellagio.
4. Go to the Palms’ clubs.
5. Get an aqua massage.
6. Try an Oxygen Bar.
7. See a show (O, or Celine, or We Will Rock You).
8. Visit the Stratosphere.
9. See more of the strip at night.
10. Play more slot machines. πŸ™‚

A Surprise

Chris just sent me a surprise. πŸ™‚ A teddy bear dressed in a pumpkin’s outfit. It’s a good thing he called, then I called the front desk who directed me to the bell desk. I may have missed it, and that would have been BAD.

Mommy and Greg are still in the casino. I am trying to pack but not doing such a nice job of it. I’m such a procrastinator.

Downloaded the new pictures to my laptop. I will post them on my website when I get home, back on BROADBAND. (I refused to pay another $9.99 for high-speed internet when I’ll be out of here by noon or so tomorrow. Although it might be cheaper, what with all the “local” charges and AOL dial-up charges I’m paying….)

Last full day in Vegas!

I got carded today. THREE TIMES! At the Venetian! Finally. I was getting worried, ya know. Did I look older than 21? What was going on? What’s messed up is that last night, I had 2 ponytails and a Dora The Explorer do-rag on, and I sat at the bar and got drink after drink, no questions asked.

I guess it depends on the casino; how lax they are with their rules.

Anyway, today was beautiful. A perfect day. THIS is Vegas. The crowds, the sunshine, the traffic. This makes one fall in love with the city. It’s simply gorgeous here. I got to see the Venetian today. I can’t even describe it. I can’t wait to share the pictures with you because it is incredible. Also went to The Mirage, and to the Flamingo and shopped in the Maragritaville store. I FINALLY saw an Elvis today, at Barbary Coast, and he was fat!

At the Venetian, one of the jackpots was an Audi TT roadster. Oh, how lovely that little car was. Unfortunately, I did not win the lovely little car. I don’t gamble enough to win big around here. I just keep thinking ‘this is real money.’

Breakfast buffet this morning, lunch in the Venetian food court. Dinner will probably be in the buffet tonight. Yummy.

My favorite casino is the MGM Grand. My favorite buffet was the Bellagio. My favorite shopping was the Shoppes at the Bellagio, followed closely by the Forum Shops at Ceaser’s Palace. Gosh, there is still so much I want to do, I have to come back. Heehee. Next time, I’m staying on the strip, too. That will be sweet and save on cab fares and stuff.

I can’t believe I go back to Ohio tomorrow. I’m gonna miss it here. I can’t wait to come back! πŸ™‚

Off to dinner now. Later, folks!
