Whatevs.

BIG THANK YOU TO varianjohnson! Thanks to him, I can listen to Do Me! by BBD anytime I feel like it. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

And AWESOME.

I owe the IRS money. They’re going to start taking money out of my account on September 15th. That sucks. And they’re all “you didn’t pay your taxes in full blah blah blah so we’re going to charge penalties and interest blah blah blah” but at least I know when money is going to start coming out so I can budget accordingly. Just know that very few people will be getting presents from me for birthdays and holidays for a long time.

Whatever. As I just told adamselzer, I’m a financial black hole. 🙁 He says one day we’ll be so rich we will look back at this and laugh. Here’s hoping.

But now that I think of it, I couldn’t be a black hole, because that would mean I’m sucking all the money in and it’ll never come out again. All of my money flies away from me at a frightening and alarming rate as costs rise while income stays stagnant… yeah. Whatever. I owe money and it sucks. It’s just like a damn credit card bill and I got rid of those stupid things in April. Grr.

Anyway.

I got drink coupons from Southwest! I earned my first Rapid Reward last month (free flight, hello!), and I asked for drink coupons. They gave me four!

I was going through all my CDs over the weekend, looking for Motownphilly (didn’t find it), and I came across a CD single for Crazy by Aerosmith. I don’t remember when I got it, probably last summer. I’d apparently never bothered to listen to it (it was $1), but there are these orchestral versions of Crazy and Amazin’ (my favorite Aerosmith song) that are just lovely. There’s also an acoustic Crazy.

Oh, and zenosidal wants me to tell you that Longaberger has online shopping now: http://www.longaberger.com/onlineExpress.aspx
He says if you buy something to enter his consultant number in checkout: 1762744

Hit the library today, the first time in a while. I got out four books and the soundtrack for Oklahoma!. For fun, I reserved the new Harry Potter book. I was number 2707. Bwah? I took myself off the list after I saw that. Some people are going to be waiting a long time. I wonder how many copies the library ordered?

What are everyone’s plans for the Harry Potter release craziness? Some place around here is even having a party on his birthday (July 31st?).

Big Brother tonight. I read the blog of someone who watches the feeds, so I already know who won POV. I’m interested to see what goes down as a result of that.

I’m in the mood to watch Mad Hot Ballroom. I need to eventually own that movie. I’ll reserve it again, as I’ve put Netflix on hold until October 15, and I will probably cancel it altogether once the hold comes off of my account. I love that they let you do that, though. But let’s see, what do I want more? A couple of hours watching a DVD at night, or to move to Chicago? Yeah, thought so. Bye, bye Netflix. Especially considering I have at least six DVDs that are still sealed! Plus, there is always the library.

Besides all of these reasons for moving to Chicago:
1. adamselzer
2. saintscribble, projectlost1, jebbyk, libbydabomb, firessong, ralinad, and other assorted people who aren’t on LJ but are still v. cool
3. There is always something to do
4. GD
5. Lake Michigan
6. D’amatos bread
7. Hot Doug’s
8. Sip
9. all kinds of other sweeet stuff

There is Anderson’s Bookshop. This shop hosts the yearly Children’s Literature Breakfast, but it also gets the most awesome authors in for signings and readings and such. For example, next month, they’re getting Stephenie Meyer, Gail Carson Levine, Jennifer Crusie & Bob Mayer. In May, they had Meg Cabot. They also had Lauren Myracle at some point. It’s in the burbs, but as I’ll have my car, it’ll be easy to get there.

The travel bug’s biting. Anyone want to fly me somewhere to hang out? Kidding. Sort of.

That’s all for now.

Food Cravings

I keep having repeated, strong cravings for ice cream, Mexican food (good Mexican, not Chipotle or Taco Bell), green vegetables, and KFC. Not necessarily together. They kind of alternate. Like, right now, it’s ice cream. Chocolate with M&M mix-in from Cold Stone Creamery.

I wonder if it’s because July is National Ice Cream Month?

At any rate, I have loads of ice cream in my freezer, simply because I don’t eat it a whole lot, so I have plenty to indulge in. But I know that I can eat an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s Neopolitan Dynamite and STILL crave that chocolate with M&M mix-in from Cold Stone.

Last time I had these cravings, I found out I was expecting Aidan.

I know for sure nothing like that is the case now.

Still. WEIRD.

Way I Are – Timbaland
I heard this song for the first time on the radio on the way home from work today. I was enjoying the beat. Then I heard the chorus. A part of it. THE WAY I ARE. Again, I like the beat. It’s a catchy song. But, as a copy editor, I feel morally obligated to refrained from obtaining it in any way, shape or form. It’s like the way I cringe when, In Big Girls Don’t Cry, Fergie sings, “like a child misses their blanket.” The noun/pronoun agreement in that sentence is off. But I like the song. So now what? *sigh* I just know that everytime I hear that “way I are” part I’m going to want to throw something across the room. So I guess the answer is to let the song be.

During the Spring, I was taking the Zaner-Bloser Handwriting course. It was a correspondence course. I worked on certain letters, manuscript and cursive, and turned them in to an evaluator. It was HARD. Writing is very much about muscle memory, and my hands had been trained to write a certain way, to make letterforms a certain way. To retrain is hard and painful. Even still, I got very good scores on my lessons, and on June 7th, I became certified to model and teach Zaner-Bloser Handwriting! 🙂 Yay.

Other than that, work’s been pretty run-of-the-mill.

I did a BAD THING last night. I installed Zoo Tycoon on my computer. And no, not the new one. The ORIGINAL one. And I played it for TWO HOURS. ARGH. I can’t believe I got sucked in again. I managed to spend $250,000 trying to get the thing established, and the stupid giraffes just kept on being pissed off, and the stupid zookeepers and maintenence workers refused to clean up all the poop which pissed the giraffes off even more! So I sold all the giraffes, and I’m going to rebuild the exhibit and only put two giraffes giraffes in there. I’d added too many before, then they started making babies and oh man. OUT OF CONTROL. I never got any of the expansion packs, and I don’t know if I am going to ever invest in the newer versions (they look fun!), but I tihnk that’ll be okay. Speaking of computer games… OMG Bookworm Adventure. Defeat the enemies by making big words!!! Yeah, game heaven for a word geek like me.

This just in:
Nielson did some research on the Harry Potter phenomena, and here’s a statistic that surprises me:

51% of people age 12+ in the U.S. are aware that the new Harry Potter book is coming out in July.

I honestly thought it’d be a higher percentage. Wow. But I think 51% is still pretty darn impressive.

The whole “Save Harry” campaign is kind of annoying. Let the author do what she will. Signing a petition to get her to sign more books, while it must be flattering, has to be kind of infuriating as well. The security measures around the book are crazy!!!!! I can’t believe the lengths these companies are going through to keep it secret. Well, one week and one day, and the fans can be satisfied.

And one last note…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO goaliej54!!!!!!! ♥

See ya!

Potluck

Today is only Monday, isn’t it?

Fartknock.

But Monday is almost over for me, at any rate. Then it’ll be Tuesday. Then it’ll be time to watch the new Harry Potter movie. Whee.

I got interesting mail today.

I had to clean everything out of one of the bookcases in Aidan’s room so the plumber could have access to the wall panel. Something huge got stuck in the drain and they have to bring out the big guns to get it, I suppose. Not only that, but I’m tired of the neighbor’s crap draining into my tub. Ew.

I am frustrated beecause my place is a mess. And to mess something up that had been someone organized is annoying. But at least they’ll fix the drains, I hope.

I hate fruit flies. I also hate looking pregnant.

I love spaghetti, and lavender, though. In fact, my mouth wants spaghetti now. But seeing the way I look right now—yeah, I’m gonna resist.

I wish I could afford organic and natural products. Foods, lotions, soaps, all that.

I want to read Small Town Girl again but I’m not sure where I put the book. It might be buried in the trunk of my car. That is a scary thought.

Bath, then bed time.

So, a plumber came in and looked at my drain. They have to cut a hole in the wall. So on Tuesday, I have to move the bookcase in Aidan’s room so the plumber can cut a hole in the wall and fix things. Eek.

You know what I don’t get? I don’t get people who put salt on their food before they even taste it. I know I’m kind of weird because I rarely put salt on my food. I like the normal flavor. But to salt it without even tasting it? What’s the point?

I remember when going to one of those free sites meant finding links to pages that gave out free samples of products. It was awesome. Now, most of those links go to those “do three offers and get this maybe” sites. No fun.

Survey time. Heh.
