Updating with a Quickness

Trying to make this quick before my hair dries!

I’d intended only on going to church today, then coming home and relaxing. God had other plans for me, though.

First off, today’s message really touched me. It was about leaving everything behind and following Christ. What’s been holding me back? Oh, wouldn’t you like to know? Heh. No, this is a secret only to be beheld by my nearest and dearest. I don’t care if this is what my horoscope says for today:

It’s high time for a secret to be revealed, and you’re game to do the revealing. Put that reputation for bluntness and honesty to work for you, and call a meeting.

Erm, no. I don’t think so. I gave it to God, and that’s that! πŸ™‚

Church was great though, epecially since Emily (yoimemily) and Bizzy (otaku_witch) sat with me. πŸ™‚ They’re so fun!

After church, I got to spend some time talking to Meagan G. She’s such a wonderful person. I see why Kelly P loves her so much. I wish I could spend more time with her.

Then I went to Best Buy, and let a laptop tempt me to the point of no return…almost. You see, I asked God if it were meant to be, then a Best Buy salesperson would come up and help me before 2:30. So one did. I didn’t count on God working in other ways though. The one I wanted was not in stock in any Best Buys closer than Dayton! Ha haa. And now that I think about it, I don’t NEED a laptop. I just want one for my writing. I know it would motivate me more to write, since I do better on computers than I do with pencil and paper. But I think I need to learn to use pencil and paper again–because getting a laptop now, and charging $900 is a stupid move right now and I know this. Just when I feel poopy, I try to pick myself up with purchases which is not healthy at all.

I left Best Buy and pulled into the Polaris Mall Parking lot. Then I thought “I don’t want to go to the mall.” So I went to the park for the picnic at 3. I helped a little bit, but mostly sat around and socialized. I hung out with Emily and Bizzy a lot, and then I met up with them at Crosstrainers.

Okay, let me just say a few words about teens. So many people complain, complain, complain about teenagers. All you haters–sit in on a church youth group service. Listen to these young people. There is a lot to be learned from them. I am amazed everytime I go to CT at what they teach me.

Plus, they’re fun. Of course, I may change my tune when Aidan’s a teen, but for now, I’m enjoying being their friend. I’ve been told by Jen*Jen that I should look into counseling for teens or something; she says I have a gift for “dealing” with them. We’ll see. That’s a God thing to handle!

I have so many emails to answer. I can’t think of when I will get to do them–I was supposed to answer them last night, but I felt so icky that I didn’t even try. And OH, I wanted to develop some digital prints, but I’ll wait til Wednesday to do that.

So, I have wet hair. I’m going to dry it and curl it and then bathe, then go to bed. I’m going to be tired as it is. Nighty night! πŸ™‚

Unmotivated

Ugg. I feel like crap. Part of the reason is that I’ve caught a cold so I feel kind of drained. Another reason is that a bunch of stuff is bothering me and I feel weighed down by it. I’m kind of glad I’m alone tonight–I really need to process things and I guess just take care of me.

Tomorrow looks to be quite busy. Sunday school, which I am not sure I’ll make yet, then church, then rest before the church picnic tomorrow evening. Then back home for a night of NO RESPONSIBILITIES before work Monday.

Today was okay. After Kim and Tina left, I played on the computer, then took a nap. I talked to my mommy on the phone, then went to Walmart to pick up my prescription and to check on a bike for Aidan. I went to Best Buy and came pretty close to buying a laptop. I went in with this mindset: “If I find one under $1000, I’ll seriously consider it.” Well, I found one. But i wasn’t impressed with it, and the display looked crappy, so I didn’t get it. I did like the eMachines one a lot. The screen was HD and it had a nice touchpad with a scrolly-thingy on it. It was only $1049–only $50 above my limit. I was really considering that one. But it’s heavy (7.5 lbs) and I want something smaller. So, I walked away from that department feeling very good that I resisted. But, I still had a $5 reward zone certificate to use, so I bought some Popeye DVDs ($5.99) and a Pilates DVD ($11.99). Unfortunately, I feel so tired (emotionally and physically) that I don’t think I’ll be doing any Pilates tonight. πŸ™

I also have to retouch my hair. I’m not wanting to do that, but it NEEDS it. NEEDS. It’s also lightening outside. The weather has been kind of poopy lately, but at least it’s cooler now. My neighborhood had a block party today, but I didn’t go. It rained on them. REALLY hard. I sat in here at my PC feeling kind of bad, but not really, because although many of the guests ran for cover, they still kept partying!

Then I went to Panera’s for dinner, and had a 1/2 roast beef sammich and chicken noodle soup. I sat outside and listened to my iPod and read. It was very pleasant, but it got very cold!

I just downloaded the beta version of Paint Shop Pro 9. I’m excited to see what it’s all about. I never bothered with 8. I was too attached to 7! But beta=free for 64 days at least, so I decided to go for it. Watch–I’ll get all attached to it, then the trial will be over, and then I’ll have to go back to using PSP 7. Or worse, buying PSP 9.

The lightening is getting brighter. I may be doing my hair tomorrow. I really wanted to do it tonight and have it DONE, but I’m not trying to be running around with wet hair during a storm.

My mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I was so close to saying a laptop, but I think I’ll tell her a gift card to Best Buy. Then I can buy the Punky Brewster and Good Times DVDs. Not that she’ll actually get it for me–she hates giving gift cards.

And a cat just puked. Nice.

I was so looking forward to this time to myself. Little did I know that this dang cold would make it a bust. Bloody hell. Figures.

Edited to add: A skunk just sprayed in the neighborhood. This is BAD NEWS for one who does not have central air conditioning. Again. Bloody.Hell. :[

Sleepover

Last night, Kim and Tina came and slept over. It was a nice, mellow time. Tina brought her new laptop and we played with Lord of the Rings stuff, and then Tina and I ripped CDs! Kim and I ate roast beast sandwhiches and Sun Chips while Tina ate canteloupe. We went to Meijer and checked our blood pressure and weight. πŸ™‚ I played my guitar and my fingers REALLY hurt now.

This morning, I made blueberry muffins and tator tots for breakfast, and then after Tina and Kim left, I went back to bed. But I didn’t fall asleep before the power went out! Of course, there is that moment of panic: Did we pay the electric bill? Did I blow a fuse? Then I heard the neighbor yell “DID YOUR POWER GO OUT?” and I knew I was okay. Warm (no fans!) but okay.

So, my mom called at about 1:30pm. I’d JUST woken up and reset the clock. But I’m an idiot when it comes to reading analog watches sometimes, so I thought it was 12:30. So now, I desperately need a shower. Talk to you folks later!
