Journal time! YAY!

So, I had a fantastic weekend, yes I did. Friday, Craig, Chris, David, Aidan and I went to Japanese Steakhouse for lunch. That was good stuff. Once all the food is done, and drenched in ginger sauce, wow. That must be what food is like in Heaven.

Friday night–oh snap, what did I do Friday night? That’s right. I slept. Glorious, glorious sleep. Aidan and I went to bed at 6pm. It was awesome and desperately needed.

Saturday, we went up to Medina reconveyne with some of my old roommates from Harrison House! It was so much fun. Lee is still as crazy as ever. His personality is just great. He’s an awesome storyteller, too. At one point, he was telling us about how he got caught in a tornado while coming from Ann Arbor. He said he was driving along (they’d told him to get out because they saw the storm coming–they wanted him home and safe), and then he checked the sky. It was three colors. Sunny in front of him, grey on top of him, and GREEN behind him. And then he said the quote of the night: “When the entire sky is green, that’s a problem.” How fantastic is that? Well, anyway, for those of you who are curious, he ended up stopping the car and getting into a large overpass and hanging on. He was the first car to stop, then tons of others did too. The amount of hail was amazing, I guess. I don’t know what I would have done in that situation. Tornadoes terrify the living daylights out of me. It’s incredible that he knew what to do.

Anyway, they wanted us to sleep over, but I’m a dork and I forgot. So, I didn’t pack anything. No diapers, no contact solution, no medicine. So, we’ll have to go again. I took pictures, they’ll be posted in my photo album soon. Hopefully tonight.

Sunday was church day. There was no Sunday school which was great because I was tired! So, we went to church and then to Chipotle afterwards for lunch. That was fun, most definitely. At home, I tried to get Aidan to take a nap, but he wasn’t having any of that, so I finally gave up. Chris was doing yard work. Then we farted around on the computers (actually, only Chris farted), then headed over to Chad and Christy’s for dinner. They ordered pizza, and it was yummmmy.

Not too much happened over the weekend, but I had fun nevertheless. Again, just spending time with my friends. Seeing those I love at church. It’s awesome. πŸ™‚

So anyway, yesterday, I was coming home from Walmart. By now, I was ready to be home. Heh. So was Aidan. But when we got to the tracks, a train was going by. Okay, whatever. I can deal. So, the train is going along, going along. And then it stops. Then it starts going BACKWARDS. By now I’m muttering “What in the bloody hell…” They let the gates up and people were allowed to cross. I’m guessing the train messed up or something. Let me tell you, it’s a bit unnerving to cross tracks and the train is RIGHT THERE. Never mind that the thing was stopped!

Last night, Craig came over. They helped maneuver the heavy TV around so I could hook up the electronics properly. It really is a sad day when you’ve lived somewhere for more than a year and you want to watch an MMC tape and remember that the VCR is not hooked up. But now, the VCR, DVD Player, Super NES, and the Playstation2 are all hooked up and ready to play. Yippee skippy. AND it looks nice there, not all cluttered. Not sure what was going on with all the extra cables and cords in the back, but it was not cute at all.

I can’t wait to show Aidan the Super NES! πŸ™‚ He’ll have fun playing, I think!

*SIGH* So, I’m really truly going to crack down on the credit card use. I need to do something. And I will. Two of them are almost paid off, and I will have reached my goal of paying off a credit card by summer. Only it will be TWO that I’ve paid off. Yippee skippy! But then I have to work on the big ones. I know I can do it if I would just IGNORE THE BLOODY SALES!

So, I’m downloading budgeting material. And I’m going to have an allowance. Meep. An allowance of no more than $50 a month for fun stuff. More than likely that allowance will be lower. But I have to focus on paying off the cards, but most importantly, NOT RUNNING THEM UP AGAIN. So people, pray for me, think of me, keep me in line, okay? I need help. It’s been proven that I don’t have the discipline to do this on my own. *Sigh* BooHoo.

I just wish I was normal.

So, the friendship thing. Craig and I are emailing about that right now. I was telling him how there are some people who you can spend hours with, and then when it’s time for them to go, you still don’t want them to go. That doesn’t happen often and with a lot of people. So, I think it’s very precious and rare when it does. That’s how Jen*Jen and I discovered we were best friends I think. Well, it was one of the factors. πŸ˜‰ She had come to stay with us for a while and when the weekend was over, she needed to leave and I WAS NOT READY FOR HER TO GO HOME! I feel that way about Craig, about Kelly P and Tyler, Kim and Tina also. Like, I really don’t want them to leave when it’s time to go. I also don’t ever want to stop hanging around Joshua or Abe or Monica or Katie or Mr. Matt. I just love all of my friends so much.

Yes, I am a dork. πŸ™‚

Scrapbooking & Stuff

Oh, so much to do. So little time and money to do it. I’m feeling the scrapbooking fever hitting me again, and I REALLY want to finish my Friends & Family scrapbook before Autumn comes along. Ahh, beautiful Autumn. It’s my favorite season, you know. But ANYWAY, I want to finish this scrapbook because I’m just really excited to journal about my friends, old and new, who have touched my life in some way over the past few years.

I already have the scrapbook. It’s greenish and pretty. I have tons of stickers and stuff. I’ve uploaded all of my favorite digital pictures to Snapfish. All I have to do is get the money to print them. Right now, they are having a sale: 19 cents a print. But I want doubles of all prints; just in case I screw one up during cropping. And there are a LOT. Pictures all the way from April! I also have more Aidan ones I want to print. I LOVE my digital camera, but DANG, I take tons of pictures with it.

I also have 3 rolls of 35mm film to develop. I like to do One Hour because I know it’s being done right there on the premises. So, that’s about $10 a roll there–I like to get doubles and matte print as well. My favorite place is Walmart, believe it or not. They have this AWESOME paper by Fuji called Crystal Archive, and it’s not really a matte finish, as it’s more of a lustre finish. It’s beautiful. Like the professional photos or something. Sparkly, almost. Lustre is definitely my favorite, followed by matte. Glossy is my least favorite, and so many people seem to love glossy. I don’t know. The gloss takes away from the picture, in my opinion.

I’m excited to begin this new album. But I really want to crop with other people. I don’t like to scrapbook alone. Writing–yes, I can and need to be alone to do that, but cropping is best done with friends. So if anyone is interested in cropping with me, drop me a comment or call me!

In other news, Andy visited for two days and that was fun. He’s so low maintenance. AND he let me take his picture! πŸ™‚ He took me to Bob Evans and Carraba. Mmm, Carraba. Today was my first time there. I ate chicken parmesan. YUMMM. I have to say it again. YUMMM. Good stuff. We also snuck in a trip to the toy store, where I bought one of those sets of mini Harry Potter action figures. I got the one with Harry, Dumbledore, and Snape in there. I don’t know about you, but Snape is one of my favorite characters in the movie. He’s so creepy. I LOVE it!

After Andy left, I went to the park for a Damascus gathering. That ended up being really nice. Yummy food. Good fellowship. Then, Tina, Chris, Aimee and I went to Craig’s to play games. Abe showed up about an hour later. We played Scene It again. What a great game. I HIGHLY recommend it!

And the weather! All you central Ohioans, was it NOT gorgeous today? Oh, if only every day could be like this. It was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. The night is very cool now. A couple of nights ago, I was sticky and miserable. Now, my nose is running due to the chill in here. I’m definitely going to have to turn the fan off before bed. Or maybe I’ll keep the one in the loft on….

So, it’s 2am, and Saturday. Other than an oil change, I have nothing on the agenda. I feel strangely calm about it. Excited to relax, you know? The house isnt too messy, so I don’t have to rush around cleaning, and I have no plans with anyone. And for some reason, I don’t mind. πŸ™‚

Well, I’m really tired and I have a backache. Mother Nature is visiting and it’s just one pain after another with that. :

Later, gators! πŸ™‚

Luscious Update

Hmm. Perhaps it’s time for my luscious update. I haven’t written a substantial entry in a while. Hopefully, I won’t blank out. That happens a lot. My mind races a million miles a second when I’m driving, then I blank out once the writing components (journal, PC, etc.) are in front of me. Frustrating, that.

Speaking of frustrating… CONSTRUCTION. ARGH. It’s everywhere. Seems that all the roads I take are having work done on them. I know I’ll be grateful for it when it’s done, but it’s a pain in the interim. All the detours and reroutes, and having to get up earlier. Double argh! Someone was right when he said Ohio has two seasons. Winter and Construction. The amount of orange decorating our roads is insane.

So, I was driving, and I decided to list my favorite things about each season. Pros and cons, if you will. The good things about Summer are: BBQs, sweet corn, Ohio State Fair, going to the park, Easton, sunshine, warm weather, pool parties, Cedar Point, Kings Island, fireflies. Bad things about Summer: thunderstorms, bugs, and construction.

I’d started to compare winter and summer in my head, and let’s face it, folks. Summer beats winter by a landslide. At least, in my opinion. Good things about Winter: my birthday, Christmas, Aidan’s birthday, and the furnace. Bad things about Winter: ice, snow, sleet, freezing rain, COLD, endless grey skies, seasonal depression, short short days.

Check out those lists! Compare and contrast! Summer is better by far. I dare any of you to challenge me!

Yesterday, Wendy and I went to the park and then we went to Maggie Moos. Aidan wanted to eat his cotton candy by himself. Now, as you may or may not know, cotton candy ice cream is BRIGHT BLUE. It looked like he’d painted on himself when all was done. I had my usual–chocolate with M&M mix-in. MMm, sooo good. Then I went and picked up a couple of waffles from The Iron Works for the road. MM. Junk food!

Kings Island was Sunday, and that was good times. Aidan rode a few coasters. Mild ones, mind you. As long as he could sit upright, they let him on. Crazy, right? I also took him on The Scrambler, and the kiddie rides which I could get on with him. He was too small for the cars and things. Maybe next year.

I rode Top Gun, and they had this small version of the Raptor which was fun. I enjoy the kiddie coasters b/c they are thrilling enough, but not nerve wrecking like the ones at Cedar Point. Aidan was cute there. He didn’t care so much for the coasters, but he loved the Merry-Go-Rounds and things like that. Kings Island is a great family place. Click here to check out pics!

It was really nice. Chris’s company, Gap, Inc. Direct, paid for the outing. Admission, parking, and lunch was all covered. THAT’S a company picnic. πŸ™‚

So, I got a guitar. πŸ™‚ Check it out here: My Guitar. πŸ™‚ Cute, huh? I can already play D5, A5, and E5. And… I’m getting the hang of the D, A, and E chords. I tried out G and C Saturday night, and those will definitely take some getting used to!

I am eating Doritoes and THEY ARE GOOD.

Garth is back, safe and sound, from his trip to Uzbekhistan. He said he had an amazing time. Woohoo. I can’t wait to see his pictures. And Andy is coming to visit tomorrow and Friday. YIPPEE. I haven’t seen him in over a year. WAY TOO LONG. AND Kelly P *might* come over tomorrow, but that’s still kind of up in the air. So, we’ll see. At any rate, I’ll be around people I love to spend time with, so it’s all good.

I feel like I’m forgetting stuff. So, I guess I’ll update later once I remember. πŸ™‚

I guess that’s all for now. Til later!
