I haven’t done an MMC post in… forever. Here’s some history. I used to be a huge, huge, huge fan of the All-New Mickey Mouse Club. Yes, this is the show that spawned the likes of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and Keri Russell. Before there were those guys, there was a Mylin Brooks, a Terra McNair, a Rhona Bennett, a Tony Lucca. Definitely a Ricky Luna. Those kids made my life. I wrote fan fiction about them before it was cool. They got me out of bed when I felt like covering up and hiding from the world. They kept me in shape, for I learned every dance step to every cool song they performed. They helped me dress, speak, grow. Every single day at 5:30pm, I would sit in front of my TV, VCR remote in hand, ready to tape anything with Ricky in it, and all musical numbers.
The musical numbers were my favorite parts, and that’s why I was never surprised when these kids grew up into talented adults. Following their dreams. Entertaining.
Many of them have found each other on MySpace, and I’ve had a blast friending them and being able to talk with these people who touched my life so much back in the early ’90s. They’re all working so hard, still chasing dreams–even the ones who have found them–they’re still going. They’re pulling for each other, supporting each other. True friends ’til the end. They inspired me then, and they’re still inspiring me now.
Visit their MySpace sites and show some love:

Today, Mylin released her first American album, called American Girl. I listened to a few samples on her MySpace page and it’s GOOD. I’m headed to CD BABY to buy it now. ♥ Much love for the Mouseketeers!!!

Microwave cooking should be relatively easy, right? So why did I have not one, but TWO mishaps this evening?
I was hungry, and I decided I wanted bacon and Malt-O-Meal. Four strips of bacon. One minute per slice, right? After the four minutes, the bacon didn’t look anywhere near done, so I put it in for two more minutes. When the microwave went off, I smelled that awful burned bacon smell. OOPS. I took those slices off of the tray, drained them, gave a couple of small pieces to Fi and Gracie, then crumbled the rest up to use in salads.
While I was preparing four more slices to cook, I put my Malt-O-Meal in the microwave. Now, they only have instructions for how to cook one serving, not for two (which is how many I wanted). So I played it by ear. I’d done it before with no problems, but tonight, the cereal was out of control… and IT BOILED OVER.
Oops again.
BUT, I finally got it right. Cleaned up the boiled-over stuff, got the bacon to where I like it perfectly, dumped way too much sugar on the Malt-O-Meal (as usual) and had a very yummy late dinner.
The End.
P.S. In case you couldn’t tell, I’m not the most skilled at cooking, unless it’s spaghetti. Or dressing. I can also make a mean hot dish or meatloaf. ONION-FREE at that. Okay, going to bed now…..

Yesterday, I found out something REALLY COOL.
Aidan’s completely potty trained!
Let me just say.. YAY!! 😀
I’d gone out Friday and bought Pull-Ups because I thought he’d still needed them at night. But I found out that he holds in it all night, and waits to go in the morning.
This is great news, ladies and gentlemen!
I haven’t had to change a dirty diaper in months. He’s pooped in the potty for a while now, but he’d been touch and go with peeing. Now he’s got that under control too!
I don’t have to escort Aidan to the bathroom (unless we’re out at a store or something) because he knows how to go himself, flush the toilet, and wash his hands.
The expense of diapers and Pull-Ups? GONE! Now I can buy him loads of cute underwear with fun characters on them! Wheeeee!
