Tilt-A-Whirl!

So, I just decided to see if there was a site dedicated to the Tilt-A-Whirl, and lo and behold, there is! Right here: Click me!

AND here is the site of the people who make it, and other cute rides. Clicky! There are even prices. Did you know that a used amusement park ride costs more than $60,000? I’d always wondered. And these are small rides. What about the huge ones, like that “Fireballz” one or whatever?

Well, the fair is over, and darned if I’m not craving fair pizza right now…

Ah well. I’ll have to wait til next year. Or until the fall festivals start. πŸ˜‰

Fair Pt 2 & Stuff

I had a great time at the Fair today! πŸ™‚ I went with Craig and Tina, then Chris joined us later. While I was there, I ran into Kelly P. Tyler, Becky, Emily (yoimemily), and Tony. We met up with Craig’s friend Josh, and that was awesome. I ate goood food–a philly cheesesteak sammich (sans onions and peppers, of course), fries, bi-color corn, pizza, and a deep fried Twinkie. My tummy is happy!

I can’t believe I spent around $30 just on food. Who would have thought a little one like me could eat so much?? πŸ˜‰

What’s even more remarkable is that I could eat again right now. Blimey!

I took more pictures–lots of ones of Aidan in those picture posing cardboard thingies. I’ll try to post them tomorrow/tonight, after i’ve gone to the Fair yet AGAIN! This time I’m going with Angelo and Monica, and admission is only (thankfully) $2! Since I’ve eaten everything I wanted this year (corn, fries, turkey leg, Twinkies, pizza, cheesesteak), I really don’t need to eat much tomorrow/today. Just something small if I get hungry enough. Maybe Aidan and I will split some fries or something.

We’ll see once I get out there and start to smell all the yummy food, though. Mmmmm.

We saw the fireworks as we were leaving. We were stuck in a long line of traffic, but we had perfect head-on view. They were gorgeous. Again. OH, Tina and I rode the Wave Swinger (swings), and the Tilt-A-Whirl. The Tilt-A-Whirl was AWESOME. We got some amazing spins out of that thing!!! What I love about Tina is that she will ride all those twisty-twirly rides that everyone else says make them sick. So next year, we’re going to buy the wristbands and go and ride all that fun stuff together! WOOHOO!

In the one building where they have the what Chris not so affectionately refers to as “junk,” I saw some things that really knocked me back into childhood. The Strawberry Shortcake dolls and minatures of MY generation! The snail/cart thing that turned into a picnic table, and her little bike! Oooo. I had all those toys! If I were rich, I’d buy them again! I do love going in that building. All the nice old stuff. Heh.

I saw the new calf, llamas, chicks, puppies, and the grand champion hogs! It was good times. I took pictures of the precious baby calf–looked just like its mama.

After the Fair, I took Tina home, then we went to Craig’s to hang out a bit. On his delicious flat screen TV, we watched Olympics. Tomorrow night is women’s gymnastics!!!! I told him I might be over to watch that, and he said OK! I LOVE watching gymnastics. Oh, if I were RICH, I’d sooo be in Athens right now watching that competition. But alas, that is not the case. Well, I guess it depends on what I am relating it too. I won’t go into that now, though. I’m not in the mood for deep philosphical stuff tonight.

So, it’s time for a bath then bed. I’m going to try not to make it 3 nights in a row where I made the dang water too hot. But my back aches and it’s craving a hot bath! *le sigh* Okay then, night night!

Imitation of Life

HOLY HOT BANANA!

Imitation of Life is on DVD??!??!?!!!!!!11oneone???////??//slash

How did I not know this?

Oh yeah, you best believe I ordered it, and got the EXPRESS shipping!!!

I LOVE that movie. I really, truly do. Susan Kohner is soo beautiful. I love her as Sara Jane Johnson.

I guess I love the movie so much because I can so relate to her struggles. I honestly think God gave me certain physical characteristics because He knew I’d have probably tried to pass if He didn’t. So, he gave me a few *key* ethnic features so that I’d never forget who I am. At first, I hated it. I HATED my big nose. Now, it doesn’t bother me so much. And I LOVE my skin color. Not because it makes me “light-skinned” or better than darker skinned people. No, I love it because it’s pretty. It’s like nougat or something. I don’t know. And I LOVE my son’s skin color even more. He’s so smooth and pretty and yummy.

But back to the subject at hand. I think my mother was really baffled as to how a girl could deny her mother and her race, and try to be white. But I had to remind her to think of the times. The movie was set in 1947, and the ORIGINAL (OH SNAP I JUST FOUND THIS – I am SO ON IT RIGHT NOW!) was made in 1934. We talked about how Blacks were treated back then, and I admitted, without the being mean to my mother part, that I’d probably try to pass too. If the White world was better, why not try to gain access?

So, I love the movie(s). They’re great. And in the one starring Lana Turner–WOW. Those dresses were out of this world. Simply beautiful!!

To the people that I interact with moreso than on the internet, if you ever see me randomly yell out “I’m white. White. WHITE,” or “Look at me. Am I not white?” please know that I’m just quoting from one of these movies. I don’t really mean it. πŸ˜‰
