Now, as much as I love Wicked, I can’t but notice that the thing is riddled with crazy grammar… liberties, if you will.

Here are a few:

In the song Popular, when Galinda sings “and though you protest your disinterest…” well, Elphaba IS protesting, but it’s because she doesn’t want to be popular. So she’d be protesting her INTEREST, right?

And the song The Wizard and I. The title SHOULD be The Wizard and Me.

In As Long as You’re Mine, there is one line that says “if it turns out it’s over too fast,” well, it should say “it’s over too quickly.” I know, I know, it doesn’t go in the song at all, but it’s still the right thing to say.

Heehee.

That said, I still LOVE the musical so very much. I just can’t turn the darn editor in me OFF!!!!

‘Til next time.
