VEGAS!

I’m going to Las Vegas in October!! Shh, Chris doesn’t know yet. Actually, he knew I was going, just not when. Well, Mommy called me today and told me that she and Greg are taking just ME out for my 30th birthday. Yes, I know my birthday is not until December, but they want to go when the weather is nicer and the city is not so crowded. They’re paying for my (non-stop) flight, hotel, and food. And I’m getting a massage and a pedicure. Tell me that’s not thebomb.com??!?!?! I’ve never been further west than Chicago, so this will be exciting for me. And a welcome break from just… life. YIPPEE!! πŸ™‚

Actually, I’m finding it hard to get excited because October is so far away and because Vegas just seems so… pipe-dreamish, I guess. Well, I’m sure it will be fun. Can’t wait to take lots of pictures and see the fancy stores and hotels and such. Good times should be had by all (three of us who are going).

Volleyball/Ultimate Frisbee Night

As written in my AIM profile:

What is it with guys and slapping each others’ butts during sports events to say “good game?” I mean, so okay. I watched as Todd and Joshua tried their darndest to tell Abe “good game.” But Abe was having none of it. In fact, Abe went as far to slap his own butt several times so that everyone could know that he indeed, played a good game. Of volleyball, that is.

Tonight was another Volleyball/Ultimate Frisbee Monday for the crowd. There was a HUGE turnout this week, which was awesome. I showed up late, just in time for the mosquitoes to come out. I wasn’t sure I was going to go, but my presence had been requested by Joshua, and I figured I’d better not let him down. Besides, he told me that my presence was a blessing. How could I resist that??

Anyway, Aidan and I sat on the blanket and watched them play. As if I was going to join in. Those people are hard core. ha ha! Then a few of the frisbee players got done and people started to head to Dairy Queen, or Dizzle Quizzle, as Matt (not to be confused with Mr. Matt who sometimes comments here) likes to call it. So, I packed up Aidan and collected Ruthie and we went. I ran over a curb and scared poor Ruthie. Aidan thought it was funny.

My favorite quote of the night came from non other than Mr. Matt. To set the story up, the invite that went out regarding tonight’s events said “Your Invited” instead of the correct “You’re Invited.” Christen, who is from Germany, was wondering why we were discussing it. We were explaining to her the difference in the forms of that particular homonym. (Homophone? Whatever. I get them all mixed up.) And to put it bluntly, Mr. Matt explained the difference as: “Your machete. You’re going to die.” Sweet.

And yeah, the butt slapping thing. Why do guys do that? And I didn’t realize there was ETIQUETTE involved. Todd and I determined that it’s probably best not to rub and go “Heyyyyyyy, good game.” But it would be pretty funny if it happened, heehee.

Okay, I’m a dork, and I need to go to bed. G’night! πŸ™‚

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

As posted in my AIM away message:

Had tons of fun today. I love the Maxwell’s pool and hot tub. πŸ™‚ Didn’t like it that Chris got us lost, though. But that’s okay. Sunday was fun, as usual. I’m all sunscreeny and chloriney, plus Aidan vomitted in my hair. I’m tired and in desperate need of a shower. In addition, my contacts NEED to come out. So, I’m outtie. Later, y’all! πŸ™‚

Yes, I had an awesome Sunday, as usual. Part of the reason is that I got to spend time with people I’m crazy about. I went to Sunday school, and then service. After church, the group had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings (formerly known as BW3), and then a bunch of us met at Craig’s parents for a party. We played in the pool, lounged in the hot tub (mm, glorious hot tub), and watched Harry Potter. I also got some sunbathing in. I’m anxious to see how golden I am. πŸ™‚ Where we were–that was Luke Perry’s hometown. Craig showed us the 1984 year book, and sure enough, he was in there. He’d gotten biggest flirt!!! Figures. Heh. Good times, good times. On the way home, Chris took a wrong turn in Mt. Vernon and we got lost. Tacked another 30 minutes onto a 45 minute trip. : But I’m home now, so that’s all that matters.

I’m trying to think of what else happened today? I guess that’s all. So, with that, I’m going to hop in the shower, then head to bed. So, good night! I’ll answer emails and post pictures from this weekend soon, I promise! G’night!

P.S. Anyone have any ideas on what I should lead discussion on in this Wednesday’s small group? Eeep. Time to go and spend some time with God to find out!

Good Times…

Had some good times this evening. πŸ™‚ We drove up to Craig’s parents’ place for a party. There was a pool, a hot tub, a playground and tons of toys for Aidan, and FOOD. We had fun. It ended up being me, Chris, Craig, his sister Alissa, the dog Ali, Aidan (heehee), David, and Shuree. I’d never met Shuree before, but I’d heard a lot about her. I like her a lot. I liked Alissa as well.

One day, I MUST own a hot tub. WOW. I mean, WOW. It was simply heavenly. Seriously heavenly.

And now I’m tired, so I’m going to shower and go to bed. Night. πŸ™‚

Harry Potter

So, I finally got the chance to see the newest Harry Potter movie. Quite honestly, I rather enjoyed it. I loved Hermione’s clothes (although I do prefer the Hogwart’s uniforms the best), and that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) is growing more adorable every day. Since I have not read the book recently, the things that were omitted or moved around didn’t bother me as much as they bothered a lot of other people. The special effects were cool. I liked how they portrayed those creepy Dementors. I really enjoyed seeing Prof. Snape in the old lady’s clothes. I loved Buckbeat (he was so adorable!). My favorite lines were:

Ron: What in the bloody hell was that?
Harry: This is not normal!

All in all, I liked it and plan to buy the DVD when it comes out.
